Light Painting meetup photos

Another from the meetup. This is Rachel's adorable little boy.

I know it's Wednesday, and there's no bokeh, but this is the one I wanted to upload today, so HBW anyway.

Thank you for all the comments on my b&w conversion! I use lilyblue actions/presets to do them with just minor adjustments to tailor them to the particular photo. I cannot recommend them enough!

Fun with light at light painting workshop meetup

my meetup group went to the uc davis arboretum this morning. i'll be processing the photos this week...and will post a few of them here and on my blog.

After we left the shelter of a local tavern, half of us went to another bar to meetup with Kim's hubby. Naturally, a headless on the bench shot had to happen. :)

Sadly, I didn't even take this photo. My hubby, Brad, did. :)

The Instagram account @IGersBoston hosted a great photowalk yesterday as part of instagram's #WWIM14 - worldwide instameet 14. I guess that means there have been 14 of them, but I only went to my first one last spring and this was my second.

Strobist-minded meetup of photographers at a racquetball court in Tyler, Texas.

I had shutter on these, and lighting was a combination of Cody Maher, Michael Strout and myself.

I did post, but this thing is looking a bit hot on the magenta ... I'll have to see if I can correct it after sleep. Maybe I messed up on the profile conversion ...

seanhfoto and I in tampa. it was great meeting sean after emailing/commenting back and forth for so long on flickr. you should see the photographic crack den he works in! hasselblad everywhere, clustered G4s, cool and mesmerizing props everywhere you look. im glad my amazement outshone my jealousy. sean then took us to a fantastic cuban hole in the wall for lunch. everything tradicional, authentico! the smell of garlic grabbed your cortex when you walked in. we talked about flickr (duhs) and dogs and the rain in florida - thanks for everything sean. we had a great time. next time dinner and drinks are on me!

In other news. We have snow!!!

From a few years ago after first moving to Florida. I joined some Meetup groups that were local to make friends. This is the first one I went to and it was packed, maybe 300 people or so in a nice bar and restaurant. Sure I was bit nervous going in but I quickly met Marisol, above in black, and she was fun and introduced me around to both some women and men there. And later I met Karen, in the pink, who was a doll too ! Interestingly I did get up and do some solo wondering around and found it very natural and even talked with several guys who were all very nice and asked if this was my first time coming to the groups meeting and even was given a few phone numbers ! In fact no one gave me hard time or said anything negative, only compliments even though I was the only Tgirl in this very straight singles party ! I was flying sky high and even hooked up with Marisol a few weeks later to go to the groups Halloween party which was equally (and maybe even more) fun than this first one I went to !

The RHD 480 meeting with a not-so distant, but still publicly active relative at Nyékládháza train station.

Would you guess the 256 is actually younger than the ex-North Somerset Coach beauty?

Thanks to Tamás for the hot tip, this was a nice extra for the way home from the XIII. Ikarus meetup.

Each year on our block, we have a cookie party with the neighbors. This year, I extended the tradition and had a party with my Food Photography meetup group. We each brought cookies to share, and spent a couple of hours talking a bit of shop and a bit of personal goings on.

For the past several years, my holiday cookie of choice has been the Pizelle. I just love the intricate designs, the simple flavor and the perfect crispness. This year, I mixed it up a bit using the Tea & Honey Crisp recipe from Bon Appetit. It's not quite the same as the Pizelle recipe, but crisps up well. Also, unlike the Pizelle's the cookies come out of the iron very, very soft so they can be easily shaped into cones. I stuffed these with a mascarpone/vanilla/whipped cream concotion reminicent of a canoli stuffing. We didn't eat them quite quickly enough, so the cookie part softened up, but they were still very tasty.

Couldn't resist a shot of Anais in her summer outfit <3
