I dropped a few rolls of medium format film off yesterday. I didn't get them all back. The one roll was filled with people and places I didn't recognize. The person behind the counter apologized and told me they'd call if my film turned up.
I'm putting the odds at about 50/50.
Nevertheless, the rolls I did get back aren't too shabby. I successfully fixed the light leak on the Pentacon with some gaffers tape along the curtain frame which you can see in the upper right corner of this shot. The imperfect square edge kinda makes it look like an old glass negative. And, with my current addiction to Shorpy, it was nice to get back to shooting classic film, in a classic camera, through a classic lens.

Nicole and I had a wedding 2 Days after Christmas this year... I thought it was a strange time.... There was a beautiful sunset at the Church and I had to play with my new Medium Format Camera that Nicole got me for Christmas (thanks Honey!) The Night got even more interesting when we ended up back at the hospital but for her Dad this time...
I actually shot TWO engagement sessions for this couple (it's a long story....). This is from the first session. I have them in front of a former fire station, posing in the way the best expresses each of their personalities.
You can see more from this shoot here.
Mamiya 645AF, 80mm f/2.8 lens, Kodak Portra 800, Noritsu scan.
Yes, Portra 800. I never use this film, but it was overcast and I knew I'd need some extra ISO 'mileage'. Turned out very nice.

This one shot with Fujifilm Provia 400.
Straight out from the HCL CD, no post processing.
4 of 5. Second batch came back. This time developed @ HCL. Disappointed!! Not sure what to do from here, sort of lost....Is it the film? Is it the development and scan that is done poorly? Or did i just not setting the exposure right!? Last batch developed from National Photo was much better.....this time lots of under underexposed shots as well. The scans are all very grainy.
Pls Help!!

So here's my last shot from my San Francisco photos. Ending on an obvious note. But I really, really like this shot.
Val and I got up at 5 AM on this day, and we caught a cab in front of our hotel around 5:30 and headed to The Presidio and the south overlook. When we arrived it was only just starting to get light out, and the fog was pretty thick. It was even intermittently raining, so I had the rain cover from my bag strapped on top of the camera while it sat on the tripod. When it stopped spitting just a bit, I managed to take a few long exposures, and this is the one I liked the most.
I may not have left my heart in San Francisco, but I do miss the place, and I hope to make it out there for a longer stretch sometime in the future.
***UPDATE***
