Impreza P1 (MY00) handbrake mechanism; this shows the shoe adjuster screw behind the rear brake disc.
This original treasure chest is from the 17th century and was probably made in Germany. It has a unique locking system visible inside the lid. This maze of metal operates with one key that operates nine sliding bolts. Taken in the excellent museum in Archangel

On the opposite side, balls move in circles, up and down, or side to side to demonstrate different types of wave propagation. On this side, you can see exactly how a single motor's movement is transformed to drive all of them, using chains, gears and levers.

Bronze pendant with cast-in-place steel rivets on brass chain with fabricated shackles and micro-hardware. The bronze pendant was cast as a solid unit from multiple lathe-turned wax elements that were joined together before casting.
I recently assisted a resins workshop with Heidi Schwegler at the Oregon College of Art and Craft. Heidi is an amazing teacher and all of the students had a blast exploring techniques and materials, as well as mechanisms.
The internal mechanisms of my outrigger system. Purple parts control extension, green is for lowering the outrigger pads.
This geometrically well-structured design is meant to convey the processing of external stimuli and perception (the erratic orange border) through hardened senses (the exposed black exteriors) into depressive emotion (the blue spaces within) and learned wisdom (the green growths). Pencil drawing done using a ruler and coloration by markers.
