Adeptus Mechanicus Skitarii

5 cm height, white and black acrylic, 3 layers of it, epically hard and heavy but epically awesome. I don't know if I will put it on ETSY.

Waaagh Rokkit Ajax is a kitbash. Most of the ship is made from Sector Mechanicus terrain kits, with a variety of third party and scratchbuilt details added in.

I need some decently sized Adeptus Mechanicus symbols for a terrain project I'm working on. The problem? No one makes the damn things any more. So, the only solution is to make my own.

I'm building the base model out of balsa wood and other stuff I have lying around the place, then I'll take a mould off it and make as many as I need! Theoretically :)

(29/34) I absolutely love the Games Workshop – Flickr Pool. A few weeks ago I saw on there some Forge World Mechanicus models painted by a guy called Marius/Mr. Poom. He had made these absolutely incredible bases that looked exactly like red/orange Martian sand.

I sent him a message and asked him how he made them. He said that he started by painting the sand and rocks on the base, brown and grey respectively. Then he uses MIG Standard Rust Pigment and MIG Pigment Fixer to lay down layers of orange/rust powder.

I bought some ‘MIG Standard Rust Pigment’ and some ‘MIG Pigment Fixer’ and tried to replicate the effect on this model, but mine doesn’t look as much like his as I was hoping. He achieved a really Martian orange colour, whereas mine has come out a bit red-brown.

I’m still happy with the effect, it looks a lot better in person that it does in these photo’s. But if I had managed a closer approximation of his, I’d be extremely happy!

Inspired by the artwork for Horus Heresy, this was one of my first large scale sculpts, around 120mm scale.

Some of you might notice there's quite a few Warhammer-related uploads in my feed. Well, I blame my Warhammer40k-loving friend, who did it again.

To be a bit more precise, I did it, or rather, I made this this poster here as a gift for his birthday. I'm a few months late, but luckily, he doesn't mind :P

This poster here is an attempt to create an STC (Standard Template Construct) design of a Space Marine MK Vb Godwyn-pattern Boltgun, commonly known as "Bolter".

My friend's been dreaming about getting a full-size replica, but that's waaaay more cost and effort for a birthday present than I'd like to invest, so he's getting an A1 (841x594mm) poster printout instead, which should roughly be a 1:1 size printout for reference.

Additionally, this poster can easily be used as a reference for building an actual prop.

I won't say I have worked 100% accurately, but it should prove to be a pretty nice reference.

I scaled the bolter to be about 64-65cm in length which should be just about right and added 1cm and 10cm-grids to make it easy to grasp the scale of that weapon as well as its sheer size and bulk.

Oh, right:

As it says on the bottom of the poster, I am providing you with the full resolution file in case you want to print it for yourself as well.

It's free for non-commercial use, so go right ahead and slap it on your wall if you feel like it.

If you do, I'd love to see a photo of it or get feedback about it.

A rough mockup to see how everything's going to fit together. Not too shabby - although I'll need to do some detailing of the waist area.

Kitbashing an innocent Dreadknight into an Adeptus Mechanicus Knight Titan - simply because I can.

The base for Waaagh Rokkit Ajax is made from PVC foamboard and is detailed with more Sector Mechanicus terrain, das clay, Milliput putty, Ramshackle Games models and Green Stuff World green UV resin.
