Maya, (right) the alpha and only female of the wolf pack at the International Wolf Center was euthanized today due to a broken and dislocated rear leg that couldn't be repaired. Maya was a force to be reckoned with in the pack, she kept the boys in line. She'll be missed. RIP Maya.

Maya and Merit adoring the gods of the hereafter.

Beautiful wall-reliefs on limestone panelling, figures and texts are painted yellow, with some details in blue and black.. The decorated underground cambers were dismantled in 1995 and reconstructed below the ground level of the outer courtyard for their protection. The fact that the subterranean tomb-chamers have relief decoration is unique in Saqqara.

Maya was the Treasurer of Tutankhamun and Horemheb at Dynasty 18, between 1330 and 1310 BC.

Thronlehne, Fundort: Dos Pilas, Guatemala.

Späte Klassik (750 n. Chr.), Kalkstein

In ancient Vedic literature, Māyā literally implies extraordinary power and wisdom, in later Vedic texts and modern literature dedicated to Indian traditions, Māyā connotes a "magic show, an illusion where things appear to be present but are not what they seem". Māyā is also a spiritual concept connoting "that which exists, but is constantly changing and thus is spiritually unreal", and the "power or the principle that conceals the true character of spiritual reality".

In Hinduism, Maya is also an epithet for goddess and the name of a manifestation of Lakshmi, the goddess of "wealth, prosperity and love".

We had a last-minute shoot yesterday with Maya. She is the daughter in law of a co-worker. Fun 2 have her in front of the lens.

She loves the shoot, the pictures and so do I.

Second attempt in the studio with Maya. It was rather hard to make her standing or sitting still:)

This woven cloth comes from San Juan Sacatepequez, a Maya town near Guatemala City. It looks like this was meant to be half of a huipil.

My Siberian Husky Maya during our weekend near the river.

Maya quietly practices her magical skills in the catacombs of her underground drow home while she awaits for her brother to return from his long adventure in the far away worlds above. She loves to listens to the stories he has to tell her of the strange creatures he meets and does battle with. Someday she will get to join him and she will be ready to show off her newfound skills.
