"There are an estimated 7 million Maya living in this area at the start of the 21st century[3]. Ethnic Maya of southern Mexico and the Yucatan Peninsula, Guatemala, Belize, El Salvador, and western Honduras have managed to maintain substantial remnants of their ancient cultural heritage. Some are quite integrated into the modern cultures of the nations in which they reside, while others continue a more traditional culturally distinct life, often speaking one of the Mayan languages as a primary language." As you can see this little gal is always squirming with her kicking feet in motion. She absolutely ADORES animals. Yep, she is "my" Granddaughter. I think it's in her blood. lol
I tell my daughter she is going to grow up to be a vet because she responds so to animals and my daughter says probably a teacher like her Mommy and Daddy. A lot of teacher's kids grow up to be teachers too.
She squeals when she sees my pets. She loves ALL of them and now the African Grey is starting to imitate the baby. He now makes her baby squeal and you'd swear it was Maya. She greatly responds to him a lot.
You have not yet met Simon, the Siamese. He is still a kitten and I don't even know if he is full blooded Siamese or not. The lady who grooms my daughter's dogs also rescues animals, but especially cats. People simply drop them off at her shop constantly. Well I had Molly's toenails cut there and the day I stopped in, this adorable little kitty had just been dropped off with his brother. I started to scratch his little head and he all of a sudden jumped up in my arms and the rest is history. He wrapped himself around my neck...purred a loud purr and did not want me to put him down. The groomer will not let them leave until they are all neutered and spayed...so I had to come back and get him a while later.
I also did not tell you that I had Bo. Bo is an all black cat with huge gold eyes. Bo was adopted on income tax day, April 15, as a kitten not quite 6 weeks old. He had been left at a feed mill and I happened to stop there on the way home from doing taxes. This tiny black kitty kept "talking" to me so I would take him out of his cage and hold him. Each time I'd put him back in his cage to try to go home, he was quiet until I put my hand the door to leave. He then meowed up a storm as if to say "hey...you're forgetting me"....
To make a long story short, I ended up leaving with this little black tiny kitty....a kitty that there is no way I wanted. I was NEVER going to get a cat again after Savior died. Well....Bo just told me how much he needed a home...so he now has one. He also was the only kitten left from a big box full of kittens that had been dropped off at the feed mill and you could tell the feed mill guys just wanted the last kitten gone too. Bo was destined to go home with me....
The little black kitten needed a collar and some cat food too. I got him a little kitten collar with a bell. The collar pulls apart if the cat gets caught on something. He would jingle everywhere he would follow me throughout the house. It was said he should be called BO JINGLES...and it stuck. He just gets called "Bo"...and he's the sleekest shiniest black kitty you've ever seen and oh boy does he love to catch chipmunks.
When I brought Simon ( above ) home....Bo just hated him. He would hiss at him so badly, I thought this is never going to work. Simon was actually a lot friendlier than Bo has ever been. Bo is very independent and Simon simply wants to be held and cuddled. It's just been the last week or so that Bo has started to play with Simon....but I don't think Bo wants me to know that he "kind of" likes his new brother. I think part of the problem is that Bo was raised with my dogs and he has no idea he is a cat. He would much rather be with dogs, lick them, groom them....than be with a silly cat. He truly thinks he is a dog.
Simon is much younger than Bo....but neither are full grown cats yet. Both are neutered and all of their shots have been given. Both boys are very beautiful and Maya just loves both of them. Poor Simon has been picked up by his ear by her and he just purrs away....I am VERY careful with her around ALL of the animals, as I trust NONE of them. It only takes ONCE !!!....and then it's too late.
Molly has appointed herself as the guardian of this adorable child. She loves the baby and Maya squeals with glee when she sees Molly.
I hope you enjoy some new photos of "my life" as I now know it....
Maya loved attention and it didn't matter what kind. Kissing a boy in the middle of class, flushing someone's project down the drain, or just pulling a fire alarm because she was bored. She particularly loved to tease the shy boys though, and would convince them to do plenty of her dirty work for her, but she almost never let them touch the goods. A whisper in the ear or a hand down their pants if she actually liked them was usually more than enough to enlist an accomplice for her next prank. Sure she'd get caught but then again, finally letting someone catch her was part of the fun too
Maya and I went for a good sk*nny-dip before a crazy storm cell moved on over us near our old stomping grounds
