The Atlantic 85 is part of the B-class of lifeboats that serve the shores of the United Kingdom and Ireland as a part of the RNLI inshore fleet.

The Atlantic 85 is the third generation B-class Rigid Inflatable Boat (RIB) developed from the Atlantic 21 and the later Atlantic 75. The Atlantic design of the B-class of lifeboats is named after Atlantic College, where the design was originally developed.

Design

The hull is constructed in a fibre reinforced composite, consisting of a carbon fibre and foam core laminate with an epoxy glass and foam sandwich layup. The tubes are Hypalon.

The boat is powered by twin 115 hp (86 kW) Yamaha 4-stroke outboard engines that have been inversion-proofed to ensure the engines are still operational after a capsize.

Like previous RIBs, it has a manually operated self-righting mechanism that deploys an airbag mounted atop the A-frame. It is capable of being beached in an emergency without sustaining damage to engines or steering gear. The Atlantic 85 is fitted with radar and VHF direction finding equipment and can be operated safely in daylight in a force 6/7 and at night in a force 5/6.

The Atlantic 85 also has intercom communications between the crew and VHF radio via their helmets, DGPS & Chartplotter. It also carries a searchlight, night-vision equipment and illuminating paraflares for night-time operations.

To ensure equipment is kept to a high standard of repair, boats go through annual or bi-annual overhauls, and 4-year refits.

The Parliament of Singapore's maximum term is five years, within which it must be dissolved by the President and elections held within three months, as stated in the Constitution.[2] Voting is mandatory in Singapore and is based on the first-past-the-post system. Elections are conducted by the Elections Department, which is under the jurisdiction of the Prime Minister’s Office.

The next General Election will be the 17th General Election in Singapore and the 12th since independence. The governing People's Action Party (PAP) will seek to secure their 14th consecutive term in office since 1959. This will be the PAP's third election with Lee Hsien Loong as its Secretary-General, and the country's first election after the death of its founding Prime Minister Lee Kuan Yew.

With a maximum speed of 75 mph (121 km/h) these units have been refurbished and re-powered by Cummins LTA10-R 6-cylinder 10-litre units being originally fitted with the Leyland TL11 6-cylinder 11.1-litre unit. Built in 1985 to replace ageing DMU's on the BR network, this class were mainly used in the West Yorkshire PTE(Metro) area. 144009 is seen here arriving at Ramsbottom, from Bury Bolton Street, at the ELR Winter Diesel Day on 10/02/2024. It is working the slightly delayed 2E01 09:44 Bury Bolton Street - Ramsbottom non-stop service. It is wearing an Arriva style 'Great Midlands Trains' fictitious livery. Latterly with the Greater Manchester Fire Service, I believe it is now in private ownership. © Peter Steel 2024.

Went back today to check on the baby eagles. This is the only shot they gave me to get all three of them. I have been told there we three but all the times I have been up there I only saw two. They are really big I would say right now their wing span is close to 5 feet, they were in the nest testing their wings and I couldn't believe how big a wing span they have right now. I'm sure by next week they will be branching and not long after that they will be gone. I also found out that the male and the female will leave the babies alone for quite some time now only to come back to feed them or to defend them. We had a couple of opportunities when we got there this morning to get some good shots of the male and female comming into feed the babies. We got their around 7:30am (after leaving Renoldsburg at 4am) and around 8o'clock the male came in with a fish but he suprised us and we didn't get a shot, then around 8:35 the female came in with what we think was either a snake or an eel from the nearby Pine Lake again we missed that shot. that really bummed me out but the male and female are slick and when they come in they come in low and fast, and you have to be ready at all times or you'll miss them. The male or the female was not seen the rest of the morning leaving the babies alone the whole time, the only time one of them came back was to defend them from a Coopers Hawk that was flying around the nest.
