Open-plan office in a historic location
The golden Springer high-rise, already expanded in 1992, has now received another prominent addition. On the neighboring parcel to the north, bordered by Zimmerstrasse to the south, Axel-Springer-Strasse to the east, and Schützenstrasse to the north, a massive, glass polygon has been created on a trapezoidal floor plan with eleven above-ground floors and two underground levels, accommodating 3,500 workstations on 52,000 square meters of usable space. Built beyond the Berlin Wall, the new building now stands in the former eastern part of the city, precisely where the border strip would have bisected it. The diagonal line running from southwest to northeast symbolically recalls the division of the city.

I just finished a photo series of a cafe right around the corner from where I live. The "Café Lang" recently celebrated its one year anniversary. Despite its rather small size, the cafe offers a big variety of espresso-based coffee specialties, along with pastries and local lemonades. Flavoured water is offered as well. All that, for really fair prices and high quality products.
Photographically, I needed to use some tricks in order to minimise the distortion caused by the wide angle lens in such a tight space. It wasn't easy and still there's more distortion showing up than I'd wish, but zooming in while shooting combined with some Photoshop trickery helped minimising the distortion quite drastically.

Visible from towns and cities over 30 kilometres from Barcelona, the photovoltaic pergola at the Fòrum is an enormous superstructure standing 50 metres above sea level and with a surface area similar to that of a football pitch.
Designed by the architects Elías Torres and J. A. Martínez Lapeña, it is regarded as a great piece of engineering and one of the major symbols of the new architecture in Barcelona. It was built in 2004 as part of the Forum of Cultures project, and the idea for it reflected the spirit of sustainability and making the most of natural resources that characterises Barcelona.
The Solar Pergola has been developed in the context of a European Union Project, EUPRES. Martinez Lapena - TORRES ARQUITECTOS design the building while Phonix Sonnenstrom GmbH was responsible for supporting the design phase, advising on the tendering and ensuing technical evaluation processes, as well as providing technical know-how on the development of the monitoring concept.
The Solar Pergola consists of 2,668 monocrystalline modules. The surface area of the pergola measures 112 by 50 metres. With a height of up to 50 metres the pergola, besides delivering environmentally-friendly electricity, also serves to provide shade for the visitors to the Forum. The Solar Pergola was one of the attractions of the Forum of World Cultures and, as such, will bring solar electricity technology closer to a very broad audience. A total of 1.3 megawatts of photovoltaic modules were installed on the site, corresponding to the yearly electricity needs of about 1,000 inhabitants of Barcelona.

Yesterday, I photographed a track bike race at an outdoor race track made of wood.
Some female athletes of the local bike scene in Stuttgart, met up to practice riding fixies at this race track. For most of them, it was the first time to ever cycle on a track or to even cycle on a fixie. Next time, I would love to try that myself.
The track itself was very old, not illuminated, outdoors, but still covered by a roof. As it was pouring all day long, the old roof yielded and started to leak from time to time. None of that was a big problem though. The biggest photographic challenge was it though, to properly focus at bikes moving at a speed of 30km/h to 50km/h, as there was not much light coming in. No sun, no light. Hence, I installed my one strobe I had to add some dramatic lighting to the otherwise boring light. It also helped to freeze the motion a bit better. Every time the athletes took a turn in that one curve, they were strobed like in a speed control. Of course, I paid attention to not strobe them right into their faces.

The building was attached to the hospital church in 2012–2014.
The hospital courtyard was built on the site of a former Dominican monastery from the late 15th century, which was used as a hospital from 1536 to 1895 after secularization and then served as a police building and prison. After the destruction in World War II, Wolf Irion (1909–1981) built the old hospital courtyard on the property in 1960, which had to be replaced by a new building in 2014.

The church "Verklärung Christi" is the highest located Parish church in Germany, situated at an elevation of 1245m in the Black Forest. This brutalist church was built in 1965 by architect Rainer Disse.
There are three bells in their parlors between the concrete slabs placed at right angles to each other. These are a reminiscent of Peter's proposal in the narrative of the Transfiguration of Christ: "Lord, it is good that we are here. If you want, I will build three huts here, one for you, one for Moses and one for Elijah" (Mt 17.4). The bells are named after the three disciples that Jesus took with them to the mountain: Peter, James and John.

Over the last months, I got to know Daniel. He is a musician, passionate singer and pianist from Albania. The first time, we met a few years ago, when visiting one of my friends. Then, one year ago, I moved to Stuttgart and we met again. Since then, he became my friend. A month ago, I approached him to teach me singing - I love singing, know many lyrics by heart, but everything had not worked. So he became my personal singing teacher and the only person I am not too shy to sing in front of. To say 'thank you' I created this environmental portrait series of him that showcases his passion for music, his open heart and genuine friendliness.

Yesterday, I photographed Louise, a female athlete from Stuttgart. On a regular basis, she practices road cycling, kayaking and running - many great sports that can be done outside.
Instead of photographing her on a road bike again, we came up with the idea of kayak photographs, as there are not many pictures of it, at least we could not find many professional photographs on the web. So we met at her boats club during one of the warmest days of November, to catch some last golden sun rays and autumnal leaves on the trees.
