Almost there! There's an off-by-one error in the data, caused by the strobe signal occurring before the next data write. Need to add an extra DMA channel to pre-transfer the first block, to avoid this.
Max brightness for a given channel is approximately 80% of the theoretical maximum (the display is forced off for around 20% of the time, while waiting for the next data strobe to finish). The only possible improvement here would be if the DMA engines output speed could be increased- it's currently writing at ~20 MHz, which means it takes 3.2us to clock out the 32 bits of pixel data.

i worked some photoshop on this self portrait. the feet are in focus, but gradually the rest of the body blurs a bit.
this was not my original intention. the original idea was just this composition, cut off right before my eyes. i sort of had in mind the matrix... you know when Neo is placed in the matrix inside that white space, and it's just what his brain tells him what he looks like.
this is my version of that. this sweater and shirt, jeans, shoes and ipod is where it's at for me. this is my matrix
Saw this guy at the traffic lights.. Thought he looked quite interesting so i got 2 feet from him and pressed the shutter soon as he looked at me. Im surprised nobody has said anything to me yet.
KiCad's 3D view of the MAX7219 driver PCB. Those four 4-pin headers should be females, not males. The two 5-pin headers will need to be right-angle, too.

7 o'clock profile showing the ventilation holes along the edge of the mask, nostrils and the mouth slot.
My harsh flash photography makes the contrast between the two colour camo paint look more obvious than it actually is in real life. The tones are subtler in reality.
The Matrix Tactical Systems 'Navy Seal' is one of four paint styles of this mask available from the Evike store, costing $59.99. There is also woodland, Tiger stripe and plain olive drab versions: www.airsoftpost.com
