This unit always reminds me why I am not a math teacher. It's mark up and mark downs for
My entrepreneurship class. Since it involves percentages, many think they can't do it. I know how to do it but always get tripped up with kids questions! I worked out all the problems tonight and made notes about what I was thinking to keep myself focused tomorrow when we do them together.

Addy finished up Singapore Earlybird Math 2A. We created her number line outside on the basketball court in chalk. The idea was to learn early addition.

Wow! What I love about Singapore Math is that it focuses on mental math — teaching kids how to think through the problems rather than simply memorizing answers. Addy didn't automatically know how to add 4+4, so she drew this diagram to help her.
I Took this picture when I was in math class. I was alone, everybody was talking with their friends so I had nothing to do, cuz I had finished my work 8-)

DDT funds provided more chalkboards- both permanent and movable. More chalkboards means that teachers can leave lessons on the boards after class in case students need to take extra notes. December 2011
