The kenner toys mobilearmoredstrikekommand or just M.A.S.K, is a 80stoys example of how good toys were back in those days.
These midiscale replicas all do transform the way the real toys did.

One of the masks we brought back from Venice in the summer, photographed for a challenge 'Masked' on photocrowd.
In May my brother and I shall be performing in the ballet Masquerade, composed by Khachaturian and this is his mask - sadly, mine is the purple lacey one, even though I would prefer this one. This one hides my face more. But as the lead male, this one was decided to be more appropriate.

The first one I was making. March. No elastic on hand. Still none, but improvising better. Making a few for needy neighbors. And myself! Made from a yellow T-shirt.
This mask is made of 70% Madagascan chocolate and nestles on a bed of chocolate pearls and cocoa nibs. This and other fine chocolate can be found in Paul A Young's shop in Camden Passage, London N1.
Masks have always been a central feature of the Venetian carnival; traditionally people were allowed to wear them between the festival of Santo Stefano (St. Stephen's Day, December 26) at the start of the carnival season and midnight of Shrove Tuesday. They have always been around Venice. As masks were also allowed during Ascension and from October 5 to Christmas, people could spend a large proportion of the year in disguise [1]. Maskmakers (mascherari) enjoyed a special position in society, with their own laws and their own guild.
Venetian masks can be made in leather or with the original papier-mâché technique. The original masks were rather simple in design and decoration and often had a symbolic and practical function[1]. Nowadays, most of them are made with the application of gesso and gold leaf and are all hand-painted using natural feathers and gems to decorate.
Spring was in the air during the carnival of Venice 2020 a couple of days before the Venetian authority closed the carnival and the Italian government imposed the confinement of the country.

Wish I had figured out how to do that years ago. People have always been able to tell exactly what I am thinking! And right now that should warn Hadley he's in danger. He's reveling in drinking his tea, when he knows I'm not allowed food or drink. Surgery on my knee scheduled for noon. How the heck can I go that long without sustenance? Inhumane.
I wanted to wait and take my selfie in my oxygen mask but doubted the surgeon would let me take my camera in !
ODC: The Masks We Wear
Like the glass made on the island of Murano, Venetian masks are simultaneously beautiful and fragile. And expensive.

Mask folded from elephanthide paper and painted with Pebeo paints - "Vitrail" and "Fantasy Fusion" -
Vitrail is a translucent paint intended for use on glass, metal and other non-porous surfaces - The Fantasy Fusion paints are intended for non-porous, flat and level surfaces - So naturally I'm using them on three dimensional paper sculpture.
My granddaughter shows her mask at what was left of the Carnival of Venice, 2020, near the beginning of the novel Coronavirus outbreak.
This album is posted on 19 Mar 2020 as an antidote to all the bad news about Covid-19 in Italy, and Venice in particular. The photographs were made at what should have been a high point of Carnival. Unfortunately, one the day before Shrove Tuesday Italy shut down Carnival celebrations, including in Venice.
For my family's part, we arrived as the full force of the outbreak was just beginning to strike Italy. It was our good fortune to be able see and enjoy our planned itinerary with only one or two cancellations, and to arrive back home in good health.
All best wishes for good health go to the Italian people as they deal with the virus.
