Summer 2004 trip to Chicago. Wandered around downtown and into the famed store. This flag was guady, but worth a photo.

I took this ages ago at Old Orchard in Skokie. It was before the Macy's sign had been revealed and I liked the way the two brands were merged with the overlapping signs.

Fairy godmother sees Cinderella off.

Field's Fans Chicago staged a protest today, the anniversary of Macy's killing the Marshall Field's store brand. We hung out at the State Street store, where things heated up. And when it was done, we went to go have Frango Mint Ice Cream Pie in the Walnut Room inside Macy's.

A view of the historic Marshall Fields building, while it was still Marshall Fields, from the El platform.

Now that the office building on Block 37 has officially been topped out, I have a better understanding of what my diminished view has become. Vastly different than my view just six months ago. It is still a nice site to see, and as an added bonus, I can see if Walgreens on Washington Street is open without having to go downstairs. Alas, with my pending move to NYC, I won't see the completion of Block 37, at least not from these windows. Whoever ends up buying my home, will hopefully appreciate it as well.

BTW, this is the Marshall Field Bldg on the right.

This is a set of 16 images taken approximately 4 inches apart from each other in a horizontal direction. The images were aligned with Hugin, then merged with Paint Shop Pro.

This is part of my ongoing experimental series on the subject of Computational Photography.

Jason, Janice and I make a yearly trip to Chicago to see Tuba Xmas (wikipedia). A lot of years we're a bit late and don't get seats, but can listen in. This year we were crazy early and were able to sit and listen and watch. To be honest the way the room is setup there isn't that much to see, but it's pretty cool to listen to. Afterwards we walk around the German Village in Daley Plaza and around on State Street and Michigan Avenue. I didn't take the SLR as the weather was a bit iffy, but I got some decent shots with the PNS.

The Great Tree was much better this year (I thought last year it was rather ugly).

Sorry . . . Camera shake, no flash . . . I don't know what I was thinking, either. :oP

I love how you can see the different departments on the various levels here.

The truth is what you believe to be true based on the surroundings. Never Rush to judgment... it depends on where you are standing.
