Wilson Kipsang Kiprotich and Abel Kirui are two male long-distance runners from Kenya running for London Olympics men's marathon event in the backdrop of Tower of London
Wilson's marathon best of 2:03:42 set at the 2011 Frankfurt Marathon makes him the second fastest marathoner of all-time.
Abel had back-to-back wins in the World Championships Marathon in 2009 (2:06:54) and 2011.
Wilson came third (2:09:37), Abel came second (2:08:27) after Uganda's Stephen Kiprotich (2:08:01) in the 38-kilometre marathon in London Olympics today

今日の京は第5回京都マラソン2016です。
都大路を走るランナーが全国から集まる大会。
サイクリスト仲間にもマラソンランナーも居てはりますが人気のある大会で抽選に当たらずボランティアしてはる方も多いと聞きます。
って、ことではないんですが本来ならお正月恒例の箱根駅伝時もご紹介したかったサイクルキャップをご紹介します。
1点のみの限定制作で左右に青海波紋とツバ表裏、センターに足袋をあしらったデザイン。
左側面には箱根駅伝の落款も入っています。
トレラン、あるいはマラソン好きなサイクリスト様に相応しいサイクルキャップですよ。

The 41st BRENTWOOD Half Marathon had over 3.000 runners. Again there was NO BAND and this year NO MAYOR at the Start. There was only ONE 'Fancy Dress' entrant, running with a Washing Machine , very poor this year ! I used my 2005 8MP OLYMPUS E-500 4/3rds Digital and tried the 'Sports Exposure Mode' for when they were running to see if it kept them in focus. The St Francis Hospice Charity Group.
LA Marathon - Los Angeles Marathon 2011 - Wet and raining run - marathon runners in downtown Los Angeles at mile 4 - Disney Concert Hall!
Indian marathon runner, Ram Singh Yadav took part in the 2012 Summer Olympics, London. Though he ranked 78th (2:30:06) today, he made India proud as he is the second Indian athlete ever to be qualified for the marathon event of the Olympics after Shivnath Singh long back in 1976. Ram, 31Y old from Varanasi, a havildar in Indian Army, could place himself in the top 40 if he could maintain his best time (2:16:59 at the 2012 Mumbai Marathon).
I think for India, it is A New Beginning......

Description: The history of the pavilion
During the celebration of the 100th anniversary of the independence of Brasil, Portugal has been represented with various pavilions.
Amongst them there was a pavilion which was imagined by the Portuguese Architects Guilherme and Carlos Rebello de Andrade and Alfredo Assunção Santos.
This pavilion was constructed in Portugal and, at the Big International Exhibition of Rio de Janeirro, the product of the Portuguese Industry where show in that pavilion.
The opening of the building took place in May 1923 - 9 month after the official start of the event - and it was the only pavilion that deserved the visit of the Braszilian Head of State Mr. Artur Bernades.
As a matter of curiosity, one of the "Treasures" exhibited at the time in the Portuguese Pavilion was the "Santa Cruz" hydro-air plane - used in the Atlantic crossing by the Portuguese pilots Gago Coutinho and Sacadura Cabral.
The pavilion was reconstructed in Lisbon, by a well-known team, supervised by Architect Jorge Seurado, right at the place where it still stands.
It was called the Exhibitions Palace and it re-opened, on 3 October 1932,
for the Big Portuguese Industrial Exhibition.
With almost 70 decades of life, and apart from having suffered several interference and even being menaced of demolishing, this magnificent, multivalent space of Lisbon started to acquit the function which still maintains and it was adapted in 1946 in order to be able to receive the 1947 Skate Hockey World Championship.
The Sports pavilion has recently been renamed (27 August 1984) with the name of one of the major figurehead of the Portuguese and World athletics - Carlos Lopes.
It is situated at the São Sebastião da Pedreira Parish, at the oriental edge of Parque Eduardo VII, initially known as Parque da Liberdade (Liberty Park).
Its tile panels, statues, and staircase, are an important patrimony that has to be defended.
Apart from the tiles, other decorative elements of interest are highlighted, as the case of the two statues in stone that stand on each side of the noble entrance,
made by Raúl Xavier, and which represent the Science and the Art.
The harmonious integration of its architecture in the green landscape, apart from the valuation of the city, is a constant challenge to the future.
