I spent the last week in Berlin.
6 evenings from 7pm to midnight at the festival of lights - 1400 photos - 3 videos.
The illuminations are art, but my photos are only a documentationof this great event. Nevertheless i guess it's a nice idea to show some examples for tose who weren't there...

The Cristal peak is the sixth highest peak in Brazil, with 2,769.05 meters of altitude, according to the measurement made by the IBGE and the Military Institute of Engineering, through the Pontos Culminantes do Brasil Project, and revised by the IBGE through a new mapping of the geoid of the Brazilian territory in 2016.
It is located in the Serra do Caparaó, within the Caparaó National Park, in the municipality of Alto Caparaó, State of Minas Gerais, at 20º 26' 37" south latitude and 41º 48' 42" west longitude. A measurement on Google Earth shows the border of Espírito Santo just 930 meters east of Pico do Cristal, and Pico da Bandeira, the third highest mountain in Brazil and the highest in the Southeast Region, at 1,940 meters to the northeast. The two peaks are visible from each other.
Pico do Cristal is the highest mountain located entirely within the territory of Minas Gerais, as the other highest peaks in the state are on the border with Espírito Santo (Pico da Bandeira), São Paulo (Pedra da Mina) or Rio de Janeiro. January (Agulhas Negras peak).
Until recently, the peak of Cristal was considered the fourth highest mountain in Brazil, with 2,798 meters. Later, another measurement pointed to the summit of the peak at 2,780 meters. More recently, within the scope of the Pontos Culminantes do Brasil Project, where more precise technology was used, the IBGE confirmed the summit of the peak at 2,769.76 meters, which places Pico do Cristal as the sixth highest mountain in the country. In 2016, the IBGE revised the altitudes of the highest points in Brazil, based on the geoid mapping of the Brazilian territory, and confirmed the altitude of Pico do Cristal as being 2,769.05 meters.
The peak of Cristal is a massive point that has this denomination due to its abundant rock formations of quartz, in which it presents landscapes of extreme beauty, being considered by some the most impressive place than the peak of the Flag, where the vegetation is formed basically by bromeliads and lilies on rocky outcrops, the site being part of the highest altitude zone of the park.
For those departing from the Tronqueira campsite, in Minas Gerais, the trail goes up towards Pico da Bandeira, where, close to this, you head south to Pico do Calçado and then west.
For those coming from the Casa Queimada side, you can reach Pico do Cristal by going up the trail to Pico da Bandeira and heading east before climbing Pico do Calçado. From its summit, it is possible to see the imposing Pico da Bandeira, with its characteristic abyss on the Espírito Santo side and softer slopes on the Minas Gerais side.
April in Iowa typically brings an increase in wind speeds and it's also the start of the severe thunderstorm and tornado season. This scene is looking down a country lane at a small family farm in Keokuk County, Iowa.

We met up with Ben, Abby, Elsie and Rachel early Tuesday evening for an Indian meal to celebrate Abby's birthday. The light as we walked from King's Cross to Granary Square was wonderful, so soft.
I am not particularly centred at the moment - distracted by our house being back on the market, the neighbours having chosen this very moment to knock down their garage, and I'm tired too as I was up earlier than usual to take Max to a hospital appointment and didn't sleep well, because I was to get up early . . . how silly is that?!
I shall do my best to catch up, but this may be over a day or two. I know exactly what Karen (Kleiss) means when she says she's always catching up!

I was never thinking that the seascape shooting can be so adventurous like this morning. I went with Michael to Shelly Beach-Manly to take some shots but I must have misunderstood his email. Seriously, when he told me that this was going to be an adventure, he was right!!
We decided that instead of walking for half an hour to our destination we would take the shortcut via a steep road down to the cliff in pitch black darkness (5.30 am). Well Michael had a flash light and I forgot mine at home, bottom line – we finally reached our destination with some additional scars, bruises and scratches on my legs and feet. I had slipped a couple of times and fell despite my Spiderman powers and my new wet shoes!!
We met Oat ( Hangingpixels) and few more photographers; good thing is to see how many people enjoy photography, sunrise and seascape shooting.

This was taken a while ago, in Kuala Lumpur where I was so lucky to meet with an amazing fellow photographer and friend Adam Raasalhague Photography.
I've been enjoying so much, the chance to meet friends and fellow artists from around the world and hear their own stories.

This is a bi-color image (Ha and OIII) of the Witch's Broom Nebula a.k.a. Western Veil Nebula.
I wanted this to be an HSO image, but my laptop ran out of battery after only two SII frames. So I decided to make this a bicolor.

Still playing with that lander base; I liked Mladen's comment about the RCS looking a little like a crop duster so I changed them to small radars for terrian mapping/remote sensing. And focused on suggesting more of a mosquito motif.

By the way, I photographed myself in the bathroom mirror for the big head shot and, yes, I 'shopped away a few wrinkles here and there ;-).

Imaging Earth from space is a favourite pastime for astronauts on the International space Station. They can set their cameras to automatically snap photos while they work, but often make time to Earth-gaze and take photos of their own.
ESA astronaut Alexander Gerst snapped this photo of Europe at night in September, captioning it, “From space it's pretty clear that Europe belongs together.”
It is also pretty clear that Europe is very well lit at night, perhaps unnecessarily so.
Excessive artificial light is known as light pollution and it is often a problem in urban areas. Many meteor showers have gone unnoticed by urban populations and the average city dweller can make out very few stars and constellations in the synthetic glow.
A more serious consideration of light pollution is energy efficiency. As the world grapples with climate change and cleaner sources of energy, how that energy is put to use is a bright topic.
A citizen science project is hoping to address the problem of light pollution and energy efficiency in cities by creating a map of the world at night.
Cities at Night is an online platform that invites citizens to flip through the half a million photographs of Earth at night taken so far by astronauts from the Space Station to identify cities.
In this regard, humans are much more efficient than computers, which require complicated algorithms to categorise images. The human eye, on the other hand, can quickly differentiate a photograph of a city from that of stars.
The end result of Cities at Night will be map of Earth that is accessible to anyone. Researchers want to use the map to locate energy inefficiencies in urban cities to urge dimming of the lights. This would also reclaim some of the night sky for urban dwellers to enjoy.
Find out how you can help and improve your geography knowledge with the Cities at Night project. With a mind-boggling amount of data about our planet along with the availability of the latest digital technologies, citizen science projects such as these is just one way to help interpret the data and there are countless opportunities for innovation. ESA’s ɸ-week, running this week, explores how data and new technologies such as artificial intelligence and blockchain can benefit business, industry and science to bring benefits to all.
