This old maple tree stands tall in Macauley Conservation Area, its branches catching the sunlight! It was a freezing walk yesterday, but the sun was bright and the sky a perfect blue.
More buds bursting forth on one of our maple trees as the rains were winding down. Taken while still raining a little and the sun just starting to come out. And yes, these will make a mess and fill the rain gutters shortly. :) Some not in sharp focus but saving for now since not much else to photo. More storms and very rain starting tonight for a couple of days. :( A very small tornado hit about 10 miles from us causing only minor damage 1 1/2 hours before these photos, one downside to the beauty of Spring.
In our front yard has a lot of snow piled around it. We have had more snow in Carmel, NY this year then we've had it many years.
Maple seed pods. The squirrels eat the buds and there are always lots of pods that drop to the ground whole.

A large hollow maple tree was cut down yesterday and already a fairy butterfly has made this stump its camouflaged home.
On the season trail side these couple were deeply and passionately enjoying the Fall and photographing the vibrancy of the Westonbirt Maples, with a little curiosity I captured their actions, possibly they might clicked us also.
Mid pleasures and palaces though we may roam,
Be it ever so humble, there's no place like home
Imagine our surprise to have found this huge bee/hornet/wasp nest after all the leaves had fallen from a large maple tree in my Dad's front yard... it's about 25 feet up in the air and about the size of a basketball! I had taken this from the top rung of a ladder when the sun was setting... I really liked the lighting and I'm thankful that I didn't fall off the ladder =D

I went for an early walk around the block, enjoying the crunching sound of leaves beneath my feet. However, it started raining, so I had to cut my walk short. Now, I am sitting inside sipping a hot cup of coffee while watching the rain fall outside.
Wandiligong is a town in north-eastern Victoria in the alpine region around 330 kilometres from Melbourne. Established in the 1850s as part of the Victorian Gold Rush, Wandiligong became a hub for many gold miners, including a large Chinese community. At its peak, the town was home to over two thousand inhabitants and boasted shops, churches, a public library, halls and even an hotel. Much has changed since those heady days of the gold rush, and the picturesque town nestled in a valley and built around the Morses Creek, is now a sleepy little town full of picturesque houses which are often let to visitors to the area. The whole town is registered with the National Trust of Australia for its historic landscape and buildings of historic value.
When photographing, it always pays to get down low and real close, behind bushes and fallen trees and all other hidden places. Who knows what one will discovery.
