December 27, 2018 - Mahmoud Twaissi explains the "Map of Madaba" located in the adjacent Orthodox Basilica of Saint George in Madaba, Jordan.

Called the fool and the company,

On his own where he'd rather be.

Where he ought to be, he sees what you can't see, can't you see that?

Maybe he's caught in the legend,

maybe he's caught in the mood.

A detail, prior to conservation, of the 1857 Map of Geauga and Lake counties, Ohio by Robert Pearsall Smith.

This map will help illustrate the changing perceptions of place in the museum exhibition Early Visions of Ohio, 1765-1865, which opens at the Decorative Arts Center of Ohio on October 24, 2015.

For this piece I used the journey that it takes my family to travel from our house in MD, to our shore house in NJ. I mapped out the routes that are possible and then used the lines and turns to create abstracted shapes out of the metals.

The University Inn in Seattle gives guests a clever holder for their room key cards.

There's a map attached. Seattle on one side, the university on the other.

I wanted to hike on some of these trails around the old youth hostel but I think the hike out by the old farm did me in, especially the gorge.

What happens when the journey is over? Will we continue to wonder, or return home forever? Do collected maps become useful resources for the future or commemorative decoration?

“For some people, I think this experience will be a one-time thing that they look back on from time to time, but for me it feels like a natural next step in a journey that will continue for a very long time.” ~Travel Blog, Barcelona, January 29, 2007

The Brussels-Europe Liaison Office and l’Association du Quartier Léopold, in conjunction with City Mine(d), invite you to take part in MAP-it Euro- pean Quarter #4. We want to bring together the various users of Brussels’ European Quarter: residents, EU staff, commuters, associations, lobbies, academics, and so on. They will all take part in the debate on the basis of their own experiences and background. MAP-it provides us with the tools needed to give shape to the discussions. MAP-it is a participatory process of reflection in which a group of people try to arrive at innovative insights and initiatives on the basis of a map and stickers. In this MAP-it the Euro- pean Quarter will be examined. The aim is to devise a series of concrete interventions to improve the public space around the Leopold Park.

This MAP-it is the fourth session to deal with the European Quarter. The first MAP-it was on 21st November 2010 (with an international network of associations), the second on 2nd March 2011 (with sociocultural as- sociations and local residents). A third exercise is planned for mid-june in the Royal Institute for Natural Sciences discussing the presence of water in the European Quarter. We would now like to involve a different group in MAP-it, the international staff who work in the area.

We shall build on the work done with the previous groups, starting out from the following questions:

• How can we bring about more encounters between the European in- stitutions, their employees and the residents of the neighbourhood? • What small-scale but concrete changes can we use to quickly improve public space in the European Quarter?

• How can the European institutions take up a visible, lively and environ- mentally-friendly position in the city?

The graphic shows exchanges of electricity in the Nordic countries in 1996. The Nordic countries have a long tradition of cross-border cooperation in providing an efficient and reliable power supply. The main reason for these exchanges has been that each of these countries has a different mix of power generation facilities. In the later years, from around 1997, the cooperation has changed from being an oligopoly structure with dominant state-owned enterprises to a competitive marked.
