“APOLLO TEAM MEMBER
PEGGY HOPKINS
THAT’S ONE SMALL STEP FOR A MAN
ONE GIANT LEAP FOR MANKIND
JULY 20, 1969”
I don’t know why I think this, especially since I can’t find anything to support it, but I think Ms. Hopkins was secretary to at least one of the Apollo Astronauts. Specifically, Jim McDivitt.

“A 138-foot-tall Saturn V first stage, built at NASA’s Michoud Assembly Facility in New Orleans and transported to KSC by barge, is lifted from its ground transporter in the transfer aisle of the 525-foot-high Vehicle Assembly Building here from where it is placed in a high bay to await stacking of the other stages and spacecraft. The stage will be used on Apollo 13, scheduled to be the third moon-landing mission.”
The truncated appearance of the F-1 engines are due to the thrust chamber nozzle extensions not yet being attached...along with the engine fairings/fins being absent as well.
A really striking photograph.

"First on the Moon" is the story of Apollo 11 and the personal experiences of the three astronauts who put man on the moon. The voyage begins with President Kennedy's pronouncement on May 25, 1961, that the United States would put man on the moon before the decade was out, and continues through the Mercury, Gemini and Apollo programs.

“If you believed they put a man on the moon, man on the moon. If you believed there's nothing up his sleeve, then nothing is cool”
Man On The Moon: R.E.M., Automatic For The people
This simple composition set the stage for R.E.M. to compose the soundtrack to the same titled movie. I never saw the movie but bought the soundtrack because it was composed by R.E.M. The inspiration from this song was simply from the music and style itself.
The slide in this song was a little lick that Bill berry (Drummer) showed Peter Buck (Guitarist), and the song was built around it. It was that concept of sliding up the neck of a guitar while maintaining the chord forms that’s really inspired a lot of songs that I have written.
This band has truly inspired me on so many levels- lyrically, musically, emotionally and more. I am forever grateful to IRS Records for taking a chance on them!

NASA: Astronaut Charles M. Duke Jr., lunar module pilot of the Apollo 16 lunar landing mission, stands near the Lunar Roving Vehicle at Station no. 4, near Stone Mountain, during the second Apollo 16 extravehicular activity (EVA-2) at the Descartes landing site. Light rays from South Ray crater can be seen at upper left. The gnomon, which is used as a photographic reference to establish local vertical Sun angle, scale, and lunar color, is deployed in the center foreground. Note angularity of rocks in the area.

Note, also, the large rock at the lower right that John drove over just before stopping the Rover. The Rover chassis clearance is about 14 inches (35 cm). A detail

The third United States flag to be deployed on the lunar surface, footprints, wheel tracks and the "Rickshaw"-type portable workbench, as seen by the two moon-exploring astronauts from inside the Lunar Module (LM), give evidence of a busy first extravehicular activity (EVA) period. The two-wheeled cart is the Apollo modularized equipment transporter (MET), covered with a sheet of foil material to protect the cameras and rock box between EVAs. While astronauts Alan B. Shepard Jr., commander, and Edgar D. Mitchell, lunar module pilot, descended in the LM, astronaut Stuart A. Roosa, command module pilot, remained with the Command and Service Modules (CSM) in lunar orbit.
