The remains of a home on Manda Island, in Kenya's idyllic Lamu archipelago, after it was set ablaze by suspected arsonists in the early hours of July 14, 2014. It was the latest security incident to rock the troubled Lamu county where a string of attacks have left more than 80 people dead since June 15. However governor Issa Timamy said the burning of an old hotel - which was closed - and parts of two private homes, owned by a Frenschman and and Italian woman was not the work of al Shabaab, the Somali based militants who claimed responsiblity for the previous attacks. He said appeared to be the work of arsonists bent on spreading "fear and anxiety." The Ras Kitau hotel, which is opposite Shela village on Lamu island, had been closed for many years.

It was definitely awesome to be contacted by Manda for a photo shoot. While on this photo shoot, I learned that she is hoping to launch her modeling career to reach out to LGBT youth and act as a role model. Fellow photographers! She is searching for people to shoot with to expand her portfolio. Message me on here for her contact info.
