Energy Saving Trust is a non-profit organisation jointly funded by the British Government and the private sector in order to help fight climate change by promoting the sustainable use of energy, energy conservation and to cut carbon dioxide emissions in the United Kingdom.

I've been asked to take a picture of the 7 regional managers of the Trust after their meeting in the board room on the 19th of December.

The photoshoot took place in a corner the board room. There was not much place to play with as the table and chairs was taking most of the available space. But it was OK as I only needed to take head shots.

The requirements was a portrait of each of the regional managers in front of a panel displaying the Energy Saving Trust's logo and one other with a neutral background.

Lighting info:

I was using 2 SB-600 speedlights shooting thru white brollies. One at the front camera left as the key light and one at the back camera right for the nice and soft rim light.

I could have used the back flash bare but I wanted the rim light to be soft and large. Also by the use of umbrellas, if my lights did reflect on the panel, the specular reflection would be soft instead of a small and bright spot.

I used my Nikon D300 popup flash as a master to wirelessly trigger the SB-600. Both camera and flashes were set on manual control.

Both managers were very tired after traveling across the country and go to different meetings. So I did my best to discuss and make them laugh and smile in order to get the best of them on that day.

1993 Louis Jadot Chambertin-Clos de Bèze

France, Burgundy, Côte de Nuits

Producer Profile: Going back to the 18th century, Louis Jadot is owned by the Gagey family, financed by the American Kopf family (owners of the Kobrand distribution business) since the 1980s. Today, its winemaker and manager, Jacques Lardière oversees some 60 hectares of vines, many of them premier and grand cru, which range from generic Bourgogne as well as Beaujolais, right up to top of the class examples from a number of Grand Cru vineyards including Bonnes Mares, Clos de Bèze and Chapelle-Chambertin, to name just three.

The firm is particularly strong on the Côte de Nuits as opposed to the Côte de Beaune, following the purchase of the Clair-Daü domaine in 1986. Its whites are fresh, which retains acidity and finesse due a shortened malolactic fermentation. Its reds, fermented at extremely high temperatures, tends to see more depth of fruit with complexity which both wine styles should reflect the unique characteristics of their respective villages and site. F18042008. 13.5%. 100% Pinot Noir from Jadot’s oldest vineyard dating back to the 12th century. Cherry and spice. Medium-bodied with delicacy, some earth. nice simple juicy texture with a medium black cherry finish. Drink between 2008 to 2023.

Miguel, the manager of Aqueduto restaurant in Evora, with some of the giant ceramic containers used for storing wine in the past.

Évora is the largest city in the Alentejo region of Portugal and boasts a history to match its size.

Conquered by the Romans in 57BC, for more than 2,000 years it has been at the centre of the region, its economy and its politics.

The signs of the Roman occupation are still evident in the shape of the magnificent temple at the heart of the city, while symbols from subsequent Moorish and Christian times abound.

The 13th century cathedral and the 16th century aqueduct, which stretches to the north of the city, are two of the major attractions which draw tourists to the area.

This is the travel feature I wrote about Evora and my time in Portugal as a whole for the paper:
