At the beginning of the year, Gali Group’s managers and commercial agents met at the group’s headquarters, Gali International.
Apart from the social dynamic, this photo also contains social commentary. The worker in khaki had his bank card chewed by the ATM. Just when he was about to give up, the bank manager appears. For a minute, he listens to the story of the worker, then shrugs and walks on his way.

Energy Saving Trust is a non-profit organisation jointly funded by the British Government and the private sector in order to help fight climate change by promoting the sustainable use of energy, energy conservation and to cut carbon dioxide emissions in the United Kingdom.
I've been asked to take a picture of the 7 regional managers of the Trust after their meeting in the board room on the 19th of December.
The photoshoot took place in a corner the board room. There was not much place to play with as the table and chairs was taking most of the available space. But it was OK as I only needed to take head shots.
The requirements was a portrait of each of the regional managers in front of a panel displaying the Energy Saving Trust's logo and one other with a neutral background.
Lighting info:
I was using 2 SB-600 speedlights shooting thru white brollies. One at the front camera left as the key light and one at the back camera right for the nice and soft rim light.
I could have used the back flash bare but I wanted the rim light to be soft and large. Also by the use of umbrellas, if my lights did reflect on the panel, the specular reflection would be soft instead of a small and bright spot.
I used my Nikon D300 popup flash as a master to wirelessly trigger the SB-600. Both camera and flashes were set on manual control.
Both managers were very tired after traveling across the country and go to different meetings. So I did my best to discuss and make them laugh and smile in order to get the best of them on that day.

We love restaurant signs, especially when kids are involved.
These enterprising girls will do well in the business!
Seriously, what's the big effin' deal? As a professional photographer specializing in live music, this is a question that keeps me up nights.
I have, until recently, always operated under the impression that talent and press maintain a symbiotic relationship. You want your talent to get exposure and look good, and we (photographers) want to make your talent look good so we can appease our editors. Simple as that. Lately, however, I've had more and more run-ins attempting to ply my trade, and those run-ins have been exclusively with you, the tour manager.
I can understand, with the proliferation of digital cameras, blogs and general hangers on, you have an obligation to protect your talent from 30 kids with point and shoot snapping to their heart's content. I can't and won't dispute your right to protect your talent. However when a credentialed photographer shows up representing local, or even national, press and you tell them to fuck off or even physically threaten them, all notions of happy working relationship takes a flying leap out the window.
Once upon a time, the standard time allotted to photographers was 4 songs, no flash. Then it was 3 songs. Now 2 seems to be the magic number. Hey, know what? Fine, we'll work with what you give us. We might gripe a bit, but all things considered, we can probably do our job and every one goes home satisfied. And not to get too tangential, but it is worth restating that, "we can probably do our job". We're on assignment. We're not there to hassle you or your talent, we're there to get a job done. Further (ok, tangent achieved), I for one really enjoy what I do. I don't want to make a bad photo of your talent. It serves no purpose to me or the people who hire me.
The only reasonable line of thinking that i can think of for this behavior is an attempt to quash written reviews. Guess what, reviews run without art if need be. It's also possible that the publication might reach out to one of the 70 or so point and shoot cams in the front row. One way or another, the review will run. Count on it.
So for the time being, maybe i'll invest in a point and shoot or take cell-phone shots if i have to, but I ask you again, what's the big effin' deal?
Best regards,
Frank
Euston Rural Pastimes Event 2014
8th June 2014
Celebrating 23 Years!
A traditional, English Country Fair for all the family.
Has now been held every June for 23 years. It began as a fundraising show for our local Blackbourne Churches and St Nicholas' Hospice Care with the kind permission of our President The Duke of Grafton, who allowed the event to be held in the magnificent setting of Euston Park.
Together with John Farrow (the farm manager at that time) and Tim Fogden we set up a volunteer committee, which has continued to run this successful one day Show. We have raised over £450,000 for our causes over the years.
The programme has been broadly similar each year, but with increasing entries the demand for space has required more parking and display areas. A new entrance between the stationary engines and stalls, leads past the traction engines to the new Grafton Ring specifically for tractors.
The main Norfolk Ring has a constant programme of events, displays, demonstrations and parades. It is surrounded by band music, a busy tea tent and further stalls. Leading past the Craft Tent, the Suffolk Ring is home to a large display of Heavy Horses. Nearby is the start of the hugely popular Farm Rides. It has also been associated with a magnificent display of flowers in Euston Church.
There are several catering outlets, but the most popular are the excellent lunches served in the Hall kitchen.
Keeping very much to the same format we hope to continue to attract the numbers, which filled the car park completely last year.
What to see:
Rural Crafts
Countryside Area
Steam Engines (Traction Engines, Road Roller, Commercial and Public Service Vehicles)
Tractors
Lorries
Heavy Horses
Classic and Vintage Cars
Motorcycles
Stationary Engines
Three Show Rings (Norfolk, Suffolk & Grafton) featuring many display throughout the day.
This year featuring The Knights of the Damned jousting display team.
Performing in a fantastic, coloured costumed display of Medieval Jousting at its very best. Consisting of heroic mounted knights and their squires and enhanced by our own commentator the tournament begins with fanfares and introductions and ends with the dramatic thundering of hooves as the knights attempt to unhorse each other in the 'JOUST'. Watch as the knights hone their skills by striking the man-shaped target, the quintain, and attempt to spear peasants heads off the ground at speed. The show also boasts superbly choreographed foot fights with unmerciless swords, flaming fireballs on chains and unyielding quarterstaffs as well as the knights romantically accepting favours from the ladies and fighting for their honour.
