The late afternoon light has managed to capture the delicacy of these beautiful Peace roses in our cottage garden in Northamptonshire.
...we managed to catch a bit of the sun before it was too late. Lucille isn't entirely thrilled with the flares on her face! :D Rebecca (glamourfae) was in Denver...fun dinner with her!
After seeing Laura's (plastic_fashion) gorgeous GR today, I was in the mood to photograph Lucille! Lucille is wearing a darling dress from Sugar Baby Love. Thanks so much! We love this dress set!
The Hummingbirds have finally arrived..I managed to get in a few quick photos between and rain and wind..
This shot took about four attempts. Clearly I must have been struggling with the altitude as I managed to compose it wrong or mistime the delayed shutter release.
managed to catch up with 2 Wood Sandpiper's in poor grey misty conditions this morning. Should have waited untill afternoon when the sun came out. Passage migrants who stop off to feed after their long flight. Usually get a few every year but not that common
Managed to see a pair of Grey (English) Partridges this morning. Getting rather short supply now & on the endangered list now. I have been looking hard & was beginning to think I might not see them this year
Finally managed to get into this part of the red zone to get a few shots of the Catholic cathedral. This damage was done mainly in the 6.3 quake on Feb 22nd... more damage has apparently occured in the latest 6.3 as well but this was shot a few days before that happened.
The two front towers have collapsed and gone and that front wall on the left is held up by a bit of kiwi inginuity - shipping containers and hay bales.
To the right of the shot out of frame there is a carpark full of blocks and stone from the collapsed cathedral each layed out seperately and numbered - there being saved to possibly rebuild in the exact way once the quakes finally stop.... if they ever do... (they are doing the same to the Anglican cathedral in Christchurch's Center
The latest Quake has damaged it a lot more and it might now be never rebuilt, on this ground anyway....
Just as an interesting fact. The still standing tower at the back had a statue of the virgin mary facing inwards in the front window, during the feb 22nd quake the statue turned an exact 180degrees to face outwards - looking through the window - without falling over or being damaged.
The road im standing on - Barbadoes St - has been identified as having a Fault Line directly underneath - previously unknown. There are now 3 Major active faults under Christchurch.....
This is a 3 exposure handheld hdr processed in photomatix
Cheers for looking, ive got a few more of this from different angles ill post up

Managing to gaze into the open eyes of a snowy in daylight can be difficult, at best. Their sensitive retinas leave them squinting throughout most of the day… that is when they are not actually sleeping. But in the minutes before sunrise, when its rays lazily find their way above the horizon, the beaches and bays are eerily blue and the golden iris of the snowy glows with pupils as large as saucers. It takes luck! Luck finding a bird in a suitable place, luck having a cloudless sunrise, and luck finding an owl motionless enough to allow for a photograph in such low light. As luck would have it, we were -- quite lucky. It was a brief but memorable moment at twilight dawn, indeed. #SnowyOwls
“There will be no foolish wand-waving or silly incantations in this class. As such, I don't expect many of you to appreciate the subtle science and exact art that is potion-making. However, for those select few... Who possess, the predisposition... I can teach you how to bewitch the mind and ensnare the senses. I can tell you how to bottle fame, brew glory, and even put a stopper in death." Professor Severus Snape

Managed to get out today for a bit so had a little trip out not to far from home, so thought I would have a look around Lumsdale Falls brilliant spot just a bit busy in the afternoon especialy this time of year but still worth the vist. They are situated in the Lumsdale Valley, near Matlock.
As you make your way through the gorge you'll pass several historical mill ruins, waterwheels, three mill ponds and a series of waterfalls. And also plenty of free parking... Bonus

Managed to get Petrov up into the forest for a test flight with new firmware, just as the Sun was about to disappear below the ridgeline.
Day 16 of Pentax Forum's Daily in August 2017 Challenge.
Managed to shoot a few lovely shots of one of these speedsters swooping low over the field picking of midget flies. This is a 50% crop.
So I managed to log in for a short while yesterday, and took that snap. Modded it a little and blah.
I wanted to say SORRY to Takuma who wrote to me exact second I crashed and I just did not log back.

AND I AM TAGGING YOOO PPL or sth.
I managed to get a reasonable photo of one of these guys. They have a habit of being almost constantly on the move and don't settle for long so you don't get much chance to focus. This one is on a nettle leaf just resting, its not the food plant. Lady's Smock is the main food-plant.

I managed to finish work over 5hrs early today & whist 'passing' back to Derby & going through Loughborough I noticed 37421 & 37610 in the back platform with the driver changing ends. A quick check on my phone showed me what they were on. So on arrival back at Derby it was a quick drive home, a change of clothes & pick up the camera & pole, then a spirited drive over to Elford. They were on the goods line at Burton as I pulled up at Elford. By the time I'd walked down the field & got into position they were in Elford loop. Then by the time I'd set up they were just coming out Elford loop & coming under the bridge, some 26 minutes early. Close.
37610 (tnt with 37421) pulls away from Elford loop hauling 1Q46 11:08 Derby RTC - Derby RTC (via Burton Leic Jn, Stapleford & Sandiacre, L'Boro, Toton, Washwood Heath West Jn & Chaddesden) test train on the 20th February 2023 (pole)
Managed to photograph Mansfield in a storm. Just missed a lightning strike! But got a car trail! Please note, it is illegal to use or download photos of mine, without permission. If you would like to use or download one of my photos, please contact me first.
Managed to get a shot of this little mouse who is regular visitor to the bird feeders in the garden.
Almost managed to walk straight past this on my way back to the car. It was only because a family walking the other way stopped to look at it that I looked left and noticed it. So glad I parked where I did, had I parked where I normally do I wouldn't have had this chance encounter at all. Shame there's not a Stag standing in the light, but you can't have everything!
We managed to catch Southern Heritage unit 8099 leaving Princeton, IN headed for the power plant at Mt Carmel. See here on the long trestle approaching Duke Energy's Mt Carmel power plant.
Managed to get out for a shortish walk this morning. Started off in great light, which then got worse and worse. But at least I got out!
An Oak-leaved Hydrangea in a public flowerbed near home.
Better viewed large and thank you for your favourites. :)
An original oil painting on canvas painted in the open air in front of the motive without any preliminary drawing. The tree was June’s pride and joy but sadly it died not long after with moved here so many years ago. Luckily I managed to paint a record of this magnificent tree. Before June herself passed on, we always meant to replace the tree further up the garden but although we planted a number of new trees, we did not get round to replanting another almond. As Spring approaches, by this time three would be in full blossom. A timely reminder to seek an almond sapling out and get planting.
Managed to get a very special package together just in time, Hopefully it will arrive for my Friend's Birthday.. Susie Stopped me from Shipping it before I put the Card in!
Good job Susie Sass!
I managed to get out and go for a wee bit of a walk up the road with my camera after the snow let up around 3 or so. I love how the snow seems to just stay on the branches of the pines and cedars up here.
I want to thank each and everyone for your comments and visits to my little space here on Flickr. Although I may not get to respond to all the comments, rest assured, I appreciate them all more than you know however, awards and invites aren't necessary
Managed to grab an hour for myself to make some images. Been a good few weeks where I've had time and it wasn't cold, wet and grey. Popped into town for a quick stroll around the waterfront and shopping streets from some multi exposure fun

The view from our friends' cabin in the Cariboo. It was a great privilege to stay there, but one disappointment for me was that I never managed a photograph of one of the sandhill cranes that spend their summers on the property - if only we had arrived a week earlier! The wild meadow in front of the cabin has been cut for winter cattle feed. This is a composite image from three files at 150mm focal length. D500_20653-Pano.dng. Many thanks - as always - for views, comments and favourites, and apologies for my lack of favourites and comments on your recent work; after being away for nearly a month I have been ridiculously busy as well as jet-lagged. In addition we now have a date for moving house in the next month or so which means that I am going to find it even harder to catch up with everyone's images. Please bear with me and thanks again for all your kind comments!
Remnants of a fence on the edge of the chalk cliffs at Saltdean in Sussex, parts of which have evidently already been taken by rock falls. Shot from behind the newer fence that replaced it.
I finally managed to release a first version of the article about Noritsu, I've been working on for quite a while now. You can find it here, if you're interested:

I hope you enjoy reading about something you've probably never have heard of before, including a couple of unusual lenses, supposedly made by some of the biggest names in the business, but forgotten over time. Of course I appreciate your feedback and suggestions and if you find some errors/have some additional information or know someone who might, I'm really thankful if you reach out to me!

We managed to do a snowshoe trip to Hyak Lake yesterday. A cold, beautiful day. We saw nobody else in the woods all day until we returned to the car at 5 pm, when a man was out walking his dogs.
Here is where we ate lunch. The temperature was about 22 degrees, with no breeze, complete silence. From here we wandered further uphill to the warming hut used for cross country skiing. A thermometer on the outside of the building, facing the sun, read a balmy 22 degrees.
When we started the car and let it warm up as we removed our gear the car's thermometer read 11 degrees.
Managed to capture this seal as he was jumping out of his pool for his fish...Taken at skegness natureland and seal sanctuary..
I don't often do macro shots but just loved this moss hanging off a tree branch with water dripping off it. It's a bit noisy as I had to use a high ISO to use a fast shutter speed due to the moss fronds moving in the wind.
Managed to capture a shot of the 250 GTO/64 (Chassis 4399GT) as it was being driven back to its stall in the paddock, and found that the Black and White treatment worked best.

Finally managed to get a return visit to Adam’s Place Bridge in Canada Wharf, London, which has been covered in a riot of geometric colour by French artist Camille Walala. It looks absolutely stunning.
Here's another from last weeks stormy visit to White Pocket. Absolutely amazing place! I have got to go back when there is some decent light. The sun never came out.
This is actually the first time I have ever managed to successfully shoot a lightning strike during daylight. I got a lightning trigger last year that is supposed to trigger your shutter when lightning strikes. It is a useless piece of crap. I did not use it for this. Instead I went with the fairly primitive technique of frantically pressing the shutter button repeatedly every time I saw a flash. Got one!
