5KM Start and Finish: This is a photograph from the annual Ardagh Moydow Glen Community Games 5KM and 10 Mile road races, fun runs, walks and challenges which were held in the heritage village of Ardagh, Co. Longford, Ireland on Saturday 26th February 2022 at 13:00. This race has grown year on year since its first running a few years ago. This is the first time the races have been held in February due to the postponement of the traditional Christmas time fixture from January 2nd 2022.

We have an extensive set of photographs from the race start and the finish on our Flickr photostream set at

Timing and Event management was provided by Irish company MyRunResults - check their website at www.myrunresults.com/

The 10 mile race takes in the local 'Ardagh Mountain' which is a 1 mile continuous climb starting at the 2 mile mark of the 10 mile race. There is, of course, then the reward of a long down-hill stretch after the summit. This forested hill or mountain was once a famous centre of pre-Christian religious worship and is believed to have been the home of a pre–christian diety named Midir (the God of the Underworld), and also a Prince of the "Tuatha De Dannan", the fairy people of Ireland. The hill or mountain itself is named after Brí, the daughter of Midhir and her doomed love, Leith who are reputed to be buried on the hill. The top of the hill offers impressive views of the landscape, particularly north to Longford town and towards the south. The remainder of the race is challenging but fair, with some much smaller and less steep hills in the race profile. Miles 3 - 7 benefit from some downhill as the race route travels around the base of the hills. The roads are predominantly rural roads with little traffic. There is a gradual climb in the final mile of the race which brings runners back into Ardagh village. The 10 mile race finishes in the same finish as the 5KM race. Water stops and adequate stewarding at junctions is provided.

The 5KM race takes a loop around the heritage village of Ardagh. This allows runners, walkers and joggers of all ability to take part over a more manageable distance. Overall this is a very well organised race with accurate courses, good marshalling and traffic control and excellent after race refreshments. Annually, this 10 mile race is one of the longest road races held during the Christmas period anywhere in Ireland and has appeal to runners who want to add a longer distance race to their festive calendar of running. This year is unique in the fact that it is both the first running of the race since 2019 (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) and the hosting of the race in February outside of the normal Christmas schedule. Ardagh is probably County Longford's most picturesque village with many historical and architecturally important features. It is located about 6 miles from Longford town. There has been settlement in the area since around the 5th century.

Taken March 2012. Bougainvillea 'Rosenka' is a perfect cultivar for containers. It is easily kept at a manageable size and repeatably puts on a show like this throughout the year. Tall yellow Anigozanthos (Kangaroo Paws) add a vertical accent and the Dyckia succulents are blooming in the hanging pots as well!

History and judicial organization

The Revolution of 1848 marked also the Austria jurisdiction of that time in a substantial manner with manifestations that act to the present day. The with this associated judicial organization brought then - here particularly interesting - most of all four court levels or court types: District Courts, Higher Civil Courts (Landesgerichte), Higher Regional Courts (Oberlandesgerichte) and a Supreme Court. To those four kinds of courts, the procedures of first instance - differentiated by sum in dispute or seriousness of the offense - and the review of judicial decisions on appeal were distributed in a manageable manner. That in the course of this the (only) Supreme Court already at the time of the monarchy could be found in Vienna is understandable, that it remained there from 1918 until today (apart from the period of National Socialism) is known.

The next level below the Supreme Court was and is formed by the High Regional Courts. In 1855 there were in the whole Empire nineteen, today there are four in Austria, namely in Vienna, Linz, Innsbruck and Graz. They act primarily as appellate courts. Next come the so-called courts of first instance. This generic term was necessary because there were, besides the regional courts also district courts - partly later - special courts for commercial, youth, labor and social welfare cases or should be. Of all these existed at the time of the monarchy, of course, already a significant number, in the area of present-day Austria were originally seventeen, today there are twenty after the Juvenile Court in Vienna had been dissolved in 2003 (Federal Law Gazette 30/2003). The district of the Higher Regional Court of Graz accounts for the Regional Court for Civil Matters and the National Criminal Court in Graz, the Klagenfurt Regional Court and the Regional Court of Leoben. The lowest level eventually was formed by the district courts. "Lowest" in this context is of course no rating but merely an expression of the position in the structure of jurisdiction. In Styria there were initially 45 district courts, including the district of the Provincial Court of Leoben 22 (Reich Law Gazette 339/1849). Those were merged over time. District courts are now still in Schladming, Liezen, Murau, Judenburg, Mürzzuschlag, Bruck/Mur and Leoben. Aside from court consolidations, modifications of the district sizes, responsibility shifts caused by changes in the value limits and also renamings there were naturally in the past 160 years repeatedly also suggestions or ideas for actual substantive changes of this Court System. For example, there was talk of dissolving the Courts of First Instance and to distribute their agendas to the district courts. Or these courts should be strengthened and therefore waived of the Higher Regional Court. Nothing of it gained majority, the from the mid-19th Century stemming basic system remained established and is valid until today .

THE REGIONAL COURT LEOBEN

After creating the legal basis for the new judicial organization, it was now about to implement them. It arose the familiar question of "where" and "with whom". The decision for Leoben was already on 25th July in 1849 published (Reich Law Gazette 339/1849) and also the top management for Upper Styria was very soon decided. As of 28/12/1849 the previous "Council of the Styrian state law" Dr. Heinrich Perissutti was appointed President of the Provincial Court of Leoben. He took on 18 February 1850 in Graz his oath of office and actually was taking up activities on 4 April 1850. He moved - then granted - to Leoben, there is evidence that he had lived at Unteren Platz, house number 121 (today Timmerdorfer lane 2). The accommodation question for the court in Leoben also could be settled successfully in a short time. This should move into the former Dominican monastery (now Land Registry 60327, Leoben register number 103), a building that was owned by the city of Leoben and the judiciary has been left to everlasting time for its own purposes (Treaty of 11 August 1853). This had to be adapted but only for the new task and it did take some time but, that is to say early summer 1856.

The aforementioned modifications of the judicial organization were in the first years in Leoben area relatively noticeable. Firstly, the High Regional Courts of Graz and Klagenfurt were merged with headquarters in Graz (1852 enacted and 1854 implemented) and on the other hand it came to a "downgrating" as to the label of the Provincial Court Leoben to a "district court" (19 January 1853).

The First World War, the downfall of the monarchy, the First Republic and the Corporate State brought in Upper Styria as to judicial organization only one significant, lasting change. The district courts Aflenz, Mautern and Obdach were merged with neighboring courts (Federal Law Gazette 187/1923, 276/1923). With the seizure of power by the Nazis in 1938 but went down the country's independent judiciary. Justice solely "In the name of the German people" should be distributed and probably to some extend it had a different status than before. Pure terminologically, the county court became a Higher District Court, the district courts have mutated into local courts (Journal of Laws for the country Austria 350/1938). What changed further was the area of the district. The Ausseerland was separated from Styria and the Gau (administrative district) of "Upper Danube" and thus to the district of the Higher District Court in Wels assigned.

After the end of the Second World War it came to the restoration of the on 13 March 1938 existing judicial organization, Bad Aussee, therefore, returned to the district of the Court of Leoben (State Gazette 47/1945). There were other changes. The most significant over time was probably that the1946 set up labor courts, which had replaced the earlier commercial courts, together with the arbitration courts of the Social Insurance and the mediation courts on 1 January 1987 merged in the ordinary jurisdiction (Federal Law Gazette 104/1985).

As already indicated, the terminology of the Leoben Court of Justice was subject to alterations. Beginning of 1849 had been created among other things the "Higher District Court" Leoben. With Order of 19 January 1853 (Reich Law Gazette 10/1853) to "District Court" downgraded, the Nazis transformed the term from 13 August 1938 (Journal of Laws for the country of Austria 350/1938 ) into "Higher District Court". The Court Organization Act of 3 July 1945 (State Gazette 47/1945) re-established the "District Court", until on the first of March 1993 the time came that the most original denomination "Higher District Court" was again brought back to life (Federal Law Gazette 91/1993). Without that during the whole period of the responsibilities and tasks anything really notheworthy would have changed, the Court in Leoben got three different names in five time periods.

How to Eat a Banana in 30 Seconds (Or less).

Step one: Break it into manageable pieces - like in half.

Step two: Shove the first half into your mouth.

Step Three: Swallow

Step Four: Shove the second half into your mouth.

Repeat as often as mommy will give you a banana. Or "Nana" as Ezra prefers to call them.

decided to change her armor a bit for a more manageable way to use her weapons, more practical, and allows more poseability

Larry did this hike solo, as Ben had a soar knee from our last cross-country ski outing. In order to get to Mt Loder, you cross Doorjamb Mountain summit en route. The wind was up today, as it often is on this route. Thankfully it was just manageable, and Larry completed this double summit scramble in under 4 hours roundtrip.

I wanted to free up some space in my fridge. That ginormous bag of beet greens was mocking me, taking up half of my produce drawer. Making soup is an efficient way to reduce a large pile of greens into manageable size but I still have plenty of soup. What to do?

Ottolenghi's Plenty has some unexpected dishes and the Green Pancakes with Lime Butter was one. It turns a familiar sweet treat to savory by adding spinach, cumin, and spring onion to the batter. How brilliant!

The original recipe calls for a pancake batter made with self-rising flour and whole milk, neither of which I have at home. I turned to the reliable The Cake Bible and its fluffy buttermilk pancake recipe.

As you can see in the photos, these pancakes are TALL! Each of them is about 1/2 inch thick and smells absolutely divine from the cumin and spring onion. A bit of heat is added in the form of finely diced jalapeno. If you look closely, you can see a slight tint of pink because of the wilted beet greens.

Savory pancake really isn't all that strange. If you like chicken & waffle, this fluffy buttermilk pancake packed with flavours isn't a big stretch. Definitely a welcome change to brunch.

With a name like Fashion Master, this had better be the best iron on the market. Miele's new intelligent ironing system is a dynamic board and iron in one. Adjustments to the iron inflate and deflate the board on command, allowing for steam penetration, keeping slippery fabrics in place, and making perfect pleats manageable. Stella is about 8 1/2 inches tall, crocheted from my Simply Ami pattern with crochet eyes. She has a bit of bling in her hair and at the waist with glass star beads and assorted smaller glass beads.

Her hair is worsted mohair crocheted in a cap, with long strands of single crochet to give her long, but manageable, hair. The bangs are embroidered to her head before the wig cap is sewn down.

It is a beautifully simple and understated dress; the bodice is strapless with a small bow on the front. The skirt is A-line with minimal net, and has a small, manageable train which can be hooked up using buttons and loops for dancing in the evening. The dress has button fastening down the back and discreet bows on the back of the skirt which gives added interest.

C Level refers to the last of three levels which had been mined for coal on the east slope of Cascade Mountain before this area belonged to the park. It is rightly one of Banff's premier hikes, as it has views, flowers, animals, and a trail that is manageable for most.

We were looking forward to a good hike with mild temperatures and little wind. The winds were much higher than predicted, but manageable. There was much less snow than we would have thought, considering we've above average snowfalls for this year. While the wind was annoying, the fact that wet snow would often clump to our boots was very frustrating... With all the ups and downs, we gained just over 800 m's on this very undulating 10.3 km return distance hike, but took 6 and a half hours to complete. The loveliest surprise was herd of Rocky Mountain Sheep near the true summit.

Just the black one to tackle and then one more of each color and I'll start piecing the top! I'm trying to make this one smaller and more manageable size so I can try straight line quilting with my walking foot.

Went tarantula spotting again this Saturday, 10/15, (previous weekend was the first time we went out looking for the tarantulas on the mountain roads). Even though I am not a fan of spiders, it's been pretty fun looking around for these guys and photographing them. It helps that for the most part, they don't move around erratically, just crawl around in a straight line, sometimes slowly, sometimes a little faster, but still manageable. :)

Very funky looking for 2009, the Joysticks shout aloud what they are about, fun and freestyle. Essentially there are two versions of this ski - the small sizes feature a simpler and more manageable core for lighter skiers, the second is the more adult version in the 166 and 176 cm.

The latter excels in the park and pipe, the Okume/Poplar core is light, very tough yet smooth and gives both a good pop for hucks yet silken landings and control. As with their larger siblings, the Kamasutra, the Joysticks feature the Titanal inserts through the mid-section of the ski for improved durability on rails.

A benchmark freestyle ski.

I am really sad to tell this tale. On October 4, 2012 my husband, my 4-year old and 14-month old were traveling from San Francisco to Puerto Vallarta, a seemingly manageable flight for frequent fliers such as us. We were pleased to find upon check-in that all four of us and our nanny who was

Gail is a vintage grocery store doll from the early 1960s. I found her just by chance, when I was 'channel surfing,' so to speak (looking aimlessly) on etsy.

Her face is very similar to Sweet Sue Sophisticate and Revlon dolls of the 1950s-very early 1960s who have a somewhat square-ish jaw and mature look in contrast to the more oval-faced, turned-up-nose, cute look that became more common after the 1950s and can be seen, for instance, in Candy Fashion dolls and DeLuxe Reading's various grocery store dolls, as well as in top-line dolls.

***Her body, like many grocery store dolls, is stuffed with kapok and consists of only 2 pieces: the head (not stuffed but regular vinyl); and a body made of ONE piece--the arms, legs, etc. are all together. Thus, there is no movement of arms and legs.

Kapok stuffing can lead to a kind of warping of the legs--they can became swayed to one side, for example, probably from not being able adequately to support the weight of the doll while left standing (that's just a guess). Luckily, Gail's legs are in good condition. I have put her on a stand so her legs will stay relatively straight.

One advantage is that though grocery store dolls were CHEAP--let me say that again:

CHEAP! CHEAP and PROUD!

--her hair is wonderful.

When I got her, her hair was limp, flat and bedraggled but I rinsed it with conditioner and it was very soft and manageable. Plus, just several minutes in curlers and her hair hair curled like a dream! Her hair is not thick yet it looks like a full bouffant-ish style just because of how great it curls.

Blessed, cheap 50+ year old grocery store doll (that I never had until now), I love you!

While mining through my digital archive to delete some images to make my colection my manageable I came accross this image taken 8 years ago in the Julimar Forrest behind the farm at Bindoon.

Taken with a first generation Canon digital SLR with a 6MP sensor, it still is surprisingly crisp.

Sadly this once quiet, peaceful spot has been invaded by 4WD hoons who have torched all the trees and have turned the crystal clear water into a mud hole.

2011 Parks, 2011 10-Pack, 2011 Classic and 2012 Classic Belle 12'' Dolls compared.

Ranking of features:

Face: My favorite and the most movie accurate face is that of the 2011 Classic Belle, despite her "worried" look. The Parks and 10-pack dolls have almost identical faces, but are less accurate and have a blander expression. The 2012 Belle has the prettiest face, but is least movie accurate, and she looks too mature compared to the others. She would have a better choice as a fashion doll. A lot of people, including me, have said that her eyebrows make her look evil or cunning, but now I see sassiness.

Hair: None of the dolls' hairdos are especially movie accurate, but at least the 2012 Belle has much shorter hair than the others, though it should be a bit shorter to match the movie. Also it shouldn't be so voluminous, the bun should be larger, it shouldn't have the side curls, and finally should be neater. The 10-pack and 2011 Classic dolls have hair that is much too long, and too straight. At least the Parks doll has some curliness in her hair, and was very manageable.

Outfits: My favorite is the 2012 Belle's outfit, due to its beauty and accuracy. She is the only of these dolls to have gloves, and the glitter on the dress actually look pretty good. However, probably to cut costs, the back of the dress isn't ruffled. Also, the dress is stiff enough to stay reasonably poofy, but it would have been better and more movie accurate with a petticoat. As usual, the Parks doll has the most elaborate outfit with a petticoat to keep the skirt poofy, but it has embellishments that make it less movie accurate. Also she has sleeves rather than gloves. Finally the satin dress of the 10-pack doll is pretty and glitter free, but is too simple. The worst outfit is the glitter filled gown of the 2011 Classic Belle; it's only redeeming feature is that the tulle overskirt makes the gown stay poofy.

Shoes: I watched the ballroom scene again, and it seems that Belle is actually wearing flat yellow shoes that almost appear to be ballet slippers. So the most movie accurate shoes belong to the 2012 Classic doll. However, my favorite are the polished gold shoes of the Parks doll.

Articulation: Obviously with the new fully articulated legs, 2012 Belle is the winner here.

Overall Ranking: The 2012 Belle doll wins overall, although I wish her face was closer to that of 2011 Classic Belle, or Designer Belle. She is a very gorgeous doll to look at, but doesn't evoke the movie Belle to me.

One of Suki's favourite past times is listening to stories. Thankfully Summer doesn't mind reading to her. :)

I finally decided to bite the bullet and give Suki a much needed hair cut. Although it isn't very visible here, I cut off all her frizzy bits and made it a much more manageable length. ^^

Honestly, I've missed photographing her sweet little face.

I hope you all are having a wonderful weekend! :)

Could see the wind on the drive from Dunedin to Middlemarch where I picked up the bike. The first couple kilometers wind was there but manageable. But then it started picking up. Riding through a cut like this, the wind would hit me face-on. But this was only the start of things to come.

Make: Hestair Puzzles

Serial: M1032

Title: Linderhof Castle

Series: Hestair Classic

Pieces: 1008 (36 x 28).

Size: 19 x 28 ins. 483 x 711 mm.

Date: -

Bar Code: 5 010258 610321.

Origin: England.

I don't know when or why the Hestair Classic branding, along with a move away from the red and blue boxes, was introduced but for this series it would appear to have happened somewhere between puzzle M1028 of Jungfrau, Switzerland and this puzzle, M1032 of Linderhof Castle.

The title itself seems ambiguous to me, with this location referred to as both Linderhof Castle and Linderhof Palace. I would have said Palace, if only because Castle implies fortifications, but perhaps Castle is the direct translation from the German.

Not the first puzzle of this location that I have made, a 750 piece Falcon Games jigsaw of a similar view is present in my photostream.

Built from the bottom upwards, saving the trees until the end, as it has been a while since I last built a 1000 piece Hestair, and with the change of branding and artwork wasn't sure if the pieces themselves had changed. Therefore began with the 'easy' areas; the house, the light coloured grass in the foreground, then the pool and fountain to gain a feel for how the pieces fit together.

Then I completed the remainder of the edge before working my way through the trees. This was easier than at first sight as there are a variety of colours and textures so the background forest could be subdivided into smaller, more manageable sections. It was also helpful that the remaining non PHPH pieces could be formed into columns, some of which reached from top to bottom of the greenery, thus further dividing the area and providing additional starting points for placing other pieces.

The pieces are not the original Hestair style, although these could be referred to as the 'classic' pieces. There are a few different shapes; the alternates mainly of PPHH form, with the vast majority of the internal pieces being the usual PHPH type. The fit is good: it is obvious when the piece has been placed correctly, particularly helpful in the background, and if lifted the puzzle holds together but does have to be handled with care as cracks appear, the pieces don't form a tight mat as some other makes, including earlier Hestair puzzles, do.

Bought more jigsaws…

DONE: 449 puzzles (291673 nominal piece count). TO DO: 933 puzzles (1165800 nominal piece count).

I wanted to try something new, Rose got the new body with more articulation in the bust. I hope the result is not tacky >o<. I also cut her hair, it's more manageable and modern like this, I think ?

My favorite chair that I put everywhere : Ebay

Reduced 3x3 grid to a series of mountain and valley folds in latex. Paper helps placement of temporary tape strips at intersections that will in turn help glue the latex accurately. The periodic aspect makes the fuss manageable. Plus, it's pretty. The tape strip is on any valley fold, all on the "start" end of the strip. If I guessed right, this means that every joint will have support while gluing up, and bonus that the support isn't in the way.

Meet Raquelle, my second LITD doll.

Oh how I love this chick. I know that I lot of you don't like her smirk because it looks "strange," but I personally like it. It makes her look so sassy and devious! As for the clothes, I really like her style. If I was a girl you're dang right, I'd wear something like this! The jacket is really nice and the leggings – oh, the leggings – they're really well-made. Her lashes don't have a gap and they point upward (Midge's lashes point forward). Her hair is nice and it's smoother and more manageable compared to Midge's hair. She also has the best shoes. They make her feet look bigger, but that's okay because in the webisodes she doesn't have "Barbie-sized feet."

Now for the cons. First off if you have this Raquelle, I'd advise you to be careful with the tulle skirt. The material easily attaches to the Velcro on the back of her dress and if you're not careful, you could end up destroying the skirt. I also don't like the material used white bodice on the dress because it's kinda see-through (if you look closely). The necklace is very stiff and most of the time it looks like it's hovering above Raquelle's neck. But other than those things, she's pretty awesome.

Summer and Teresa are on their way and I'm expecting them in 2 to 3 weeks.

After a great breakfast at a small cafe we took the Scenic Drive into Capitol Reef National Park. It's mostly a paved road until the very end but still manageable. We spent a few hours exploring the area. When we left Capitol Reef we decided to look for something new. I read about the Notom Road, east of the park, so we decided to check it out. Good decision. We went in about 12 miles before the road got rougher. Great scenery - it is the back side of the Waterpocket Fold - another area we need to check out. We then drove through some really desolate landscape before coming to the Hite Overlook. Great view of the Colorado River in the Glen Canyon Recreation Area. After this we were going to visit some Indian ruins but took a wrong turn somewhere so we just headed to Cortez, CO for the evening. Good day.

I'm sorry guys. I had to be ready to talk about this last month, but I wasn't. I'm still not but my own childish behavior regarding my Flickr uploads is starting to piss me off so I'm forcing myself to at least offer an explanation.

You'll notice this picture is from November of last year. Liz has generously allowed me to finish off the final two months of the project with old photos. It'll still be a full set, just in a weird order.

The reason I have to do this - Zoey is no longer accessible to me. Her family finally cracked under the pressure and decided to rehome her to someone able to offer her all the attention she's been needing.

That person should have been me, would have been me, but the timing ended up all wrong. It's kind of pathetic that, for her entire life up until this point, I waited and hoped that Zoey would become mine somehow. I didn't see it ever happening, but still, I entertained the idea.

Her family did everything right at first. They researched, they planned, they prepared. They were on lists for two years before their turn came up for a puppy. They drove hours to pick her up and bring her home. It was perfect.

Two months later, they found out they were expecting a baby and Zoey quickly fell to the sideline. Still, they stuck through it. I was there to make sure of that. She was never neglected - she had a home, a family, and me. She grew up and while she may not have been the most well trained or well mannered dog, she had more heart to give than any animal I've known.

The baby came and there were the three other kids to deal with, but I never thought Zoey was a burden to her people. She was just the opposite of that for me.

After she celebrated her second birthday, after the baby became a toddler, I figured they were in the clear. They got through the hardest part. They were set.

Then... I went and did something stupid. I got a second dog. Zoey was never going to be mine. I was just happy to have her on the side.

Fast forward another couple of months, and there I was, put in a position I never thought I would be. Suddenly, Zoey had to go. She was rowdy, she was mouthy, she kept getting out of the yard that the boys were leaving unsecured. She was a big dog, and there was a walking 18 month old to consider. Again, I don't want to judge; everything she was doing was completely manageable, but I wasn't the one living in that household every hour of every day. It's not the path I would've taken, not a choice I would've made. It was just done.

I've had to deal with so much guilt and regret over not being able to take Zoey when she finally REALLY needed me. I hear she's got a wonderful home with a wonderful person that works a pet-friendly job and has another Berner for her to be friends with... None of that makes it any better. She's not here with me, where I feel she's always belonged. She's three hours away in a stranger's house and the fact that I'll never get to see her again has been eating away at me bit by bit.

The first four weeks after the last time I saw her, I was walking around with what felt like a literal hole in my chest. I don't believe in higher powers but I prayed every night that Zoey would be miserable and destructive and they'd just send her back to us. I had many late night words with my "employers" - who I always thought of as family but suddenly felt so betrayed by. We hashed it out. I understood their reasoning, I really did. I tried my best to help avoid them having to give Zoey away. I managed to delay it a few times, because they were aware of how much she meant to me. I offered to take her on weekends, to go their house and walk/train her every day of the week if I had to. I was bargaining and they accommodated me for a while but their minds were set.

I remember that last day, when I went over to watch the youngest while the rest of the family drove upstate for a wedding reception. Zoey was freshly groomed and when they loaded her into the car, I knew I had failed her. They said they were just going to try it; see if she liked it up there and if they weren't too sad to let her go. I think they were tired of arguing with me about it, because they'd given me no warning. I simply shrugged. Some battles can't be won. I guess it was never really my fight.

I didn't say goodbye to Zoey because I couldn't imagine them going through with it. I thought about the little girl I'd just adopted barely a month before, how I would gladly run back to the shelter and say "here, take her, she's not the one for me" so that second dog opening would be once again available for Zoey. But even in just a month, we'd been through too much, and I'd made a commitment signing those adoption papers. I wasn't the type of person to go back on that. As much as it broke my heart because it meant I had to watch the dog I'd loved and cared for the previous two and a half years slip away from me.

And it did break my heart. I keep telling myself it's silly to feel this torn up over it but here I am. A lot better now, mind you. I can go a day or two without thinking about her, and then I will and the pain returns. I know she's fine, since she was a lover of anyone and everyone. At least for that I'm trying to be happy, because I know she adjusted easily. She's being spoiled and adored. She's finally getting the life she deserved from the start.

But I miss her. I always will. I said at the beginning of this project that Zoey is about as close as I've come to having a heart dog, and now that she's gone I'm even more sure of that. I'm afraid she's tainted me and I'll never have that kind of connection with another pet. I won't allow myself to if I can help it because it hurts way too freakin' much losing them.

I love Hike, he's my boy and I can't imagine being without him, but his independent nature keeps a healthy distance in my feelings toward him. I love Wick too but the way she came into my life has probably scarred our relationship - I shouldn't look at her with regret yet I fear I sometimes do.

That said, my dogs are very well taken care of and I will never put myself in a position that leads me to give either of them up. I have plans and assurances. I knew what I was getting into and I am going to make any necessary sacrifices if my situation ever changes. Dogs are not disposable.

This is becoming really ranty and disjointed. I had to say something, though. It's been overdue. I should've just written it all up the day after Zoey went away, but the raw emotion of my words might've been too much to post publicly then. There's overreacting and then there's overreacting, and believe me, I know I'm overreacting. I need to look at the big picture. Zoey is alive and well. I'm just being selfish. Not even her own family were selfish (although I guess that's debatable) - they did give her away with the best intentions in mind.

Still, we were at such a good place last year around this time. While I never took Zoey for granted, I sure wish I could go back and have a few more hours with her.

I wish I would've told her goodbye that day, just in case.

Love you, Zozo.

This nature trail was pretty much ALL constructed wood. Life Of The Forest has you walk on dirt through the more manageable parts of the trail... But this one was pretty much 100% elevated. It's a marsh -- what do you expect?

BACKSTORY FOR TODAY: After relying on everyone else to take pictures, and taking ZERO pictures yesterday, we knew we had to take a few more unique ones. So we went on the "Life Of The Marsh" nature trail, which we had not yet gone on before. You had to actually drive a bit to get to this one -- and it was also seemed longer than the Life Of The Forest trail. It was actually quite interesting, as there were different things to look at in a marsh than in a forest.

dock, marsh, trees, water.

We have been unable to tame Leah's hair lately, so Jen decided it was time for Leah to get her first haircut from a trained professional. She did great (yes, we love Cartoon Cuts), and her hair is now a bit more manageable and even curlier than before.

Turkish CZ P-01 copy. Shoots great! All steel, so recoil is very manageable. Double-action first pull is very heavy and stiff, but will hopefully break in. The single action pull is still a bit heavy but has a very crisp break, so my groups are actually tighter with this pistol than my actual CZ P-07.
