I didn't like her hair, so I dyed to purple-blue. I plan to paint the purse.

To be honest, I have no idea what this was made for originally. Perhaps it was for a large doll or small kid? My friend Lisa's dad gave me and Colleen this sometime in 2015/2016. He immediately thought it was something Colleen and I could use for our dolls. Based on what Lisa told us, she believes this belonged to one of her grandmothers, and her dad set it aside for us. This small gesture meant the world to both me and Colleen. Lisa's family sort of "adopted" us into theirs after Dad passed away in 2012. We always get invited over for Christmas Eve dinner, and we get treated like family at their special events. For years I didn't need to put this out on display formally. My Bitty Babies are compact and can squeeze together on the bottom bunk of my doll bed and in the cabinet. This is sized perfectly, however, for them. In the end, I decided this would be PERFECT for my Cabbage Patch dolls. I began collecting them in 2021, with the purchase of Baby Martin from an antique store. At the time, I planned to only have one, maybe two CPK dolls. I decided I would make over this high chair so Baby Martin would have a place to sit. This white paint was leftover from household projects. Admittedly it was getting kind of thick and chunky. But I managed to make it work. The leaf designs were inspired by the Cabbage Patch artwork. I painted them on by hand with acrylic paints. They didn't turn out exactly as I imagined. Actually, when I was in the process of making this high chair over and it hit the unavoidable "ugly" stage, I had to walk away from it altogether. I didn't get around to finishing the designs for several weeks because I was so unhappy with how it was turning out. Something I've learned over the years from struggling with perfectionism, is to simply push through. All projects and artwork go through the "ugly" phase, and you won't get anywhere if you constantly throw in the towel. Am I 100% satisfied with this? Absolutely not. However, it does look way better than when I first started. It is also an improvement from the plain staining that it came to me with. Normally I love stained wood, but this high chair was beat up and in need of a makeover. I added this little cactus cushion that I sewed up using leftover batting and fabric from Walmart. I use a small tack to hold it in place. That way, I can change out the cushion if I decide to make more (this was inspired by the design my dad and Memeré did for my homemade Bitty Baby high chair). The garden theme and color scheme works wonderfully in my bedroom. Most importantly, my many Cabbies approve!
