I love the simplicity combined with all those pops of color. A picture being drawn during one of the sets at Hollergirl Music Festival by artist Makayla Mounce.

The Beaumont Art League was founded in 1943, and is the oldest arts organization in the city.

In 1950, it opened what is now the Art Museum of Southeast Texas at this location on the grounds of the South Texas State Fair. While the location for the BAL moved several times over the years, the museum stayed at this location.

In 1969, the BAL and AMSET went their separate ways, and the BAL moved back to this location, where it has been since.

This mural is a recent addition, and depicts the main gate to the fair.

I decided to take a stroll around downtown, to see what I could see. What I saw were dinosaurs at the Texas Energy Museum and a mural in progress on the side of a building, as well as a few other odds and ends.

Cole the vole grew tired of traveling across what seemed like an endless field of grass, when he met a rather large Splotchasnail. The Splotchasnail sensed the small mammal’s exhaustion and offered to give him a ride. Cole, in return noticed the snail panting from the heat of an unusually warm and sunny afternoon and grabbed the biggest flower he could from the field of grass, and held it over the shelled creature’s head, providing shade and relief from the heat.
