Rosa is my first Make it own -Pullip (I've done four by now). She's the one who has had most changes in her eyechips and wigs and style, and I started feeling a bit desperate about not getting there. (On the other hand it's fun to try out different things!) Anyway, since Hatsune Miku LOL was a bit of a model for Rosa's make-up, after getting the actual Miku LOL I started to think that I'd give Rosa for adoption. Tonight we had a serious talk.
I was sitting on the sofa and she came to sit on the lid of the laptop. I was fiddling with my camera and the first thing she said was: "Why don't you use the manual exposure of your camera to get better pictures in the dark?" I never bothered to learn to use the manual settings, because my first attempts were so miserable, but I decided to give it a go and experiment a bit more. And voilà! Suddenly all those details that I always admired in other people's photos started to emerge. In the darkness of the night! I couldn't thank Rosa enough about pushing me forward a bit. I can't wait for the weekend when I can explore the settings in the better light! Rosa, my angel, I could never give you away!
What was our serious talk about, then? Love, life, and stuff. ^_^

In Denmark you are brought up to say “thank you for the food”, after every meal. It is considered extremely poor upbringing if a child don’t, and the way I see it, that goes for grown ups too. I still thank everybody from the hot dog vendor to the waiter at a restaurant (well... almost), even though it is not expected. But I like the thought that lies behind it, that you should show appreciation of the food that was prepared for you.
As I began to travel the world, I quickly realised that this is not done anywhere else, so I keep it in, but I can’t help but feeling rude because of it. I once tried to explain this custom to an Italian man, about to father a child with a Danish woman, and he was appalled that we would make our children say thank you for what is rightfully theirs. For sure his son would never have to. But I hope he does anyway.
If you are ever in the neighbourhood, this is the phrase: "tak for mad".

So much fun to see how much she's changed since her last birthday. She liked blowing out her candles so much that we lit them 3 times. lol. She doesn't generally have any sweets, so we got a kick out of her comment at her first bite of cupcake..."mmmm....dat's good!" It was a Snickerdoodle recipe from the Cake Doctor book. Hannah called it "Sticker-NOONle"... heavy emphasis on NOON...accompanied by fits of giggles!
