I always liked the feel of this place with the big trees around it. This place is slowly becoming more ramshackle due to neglect. It was for sale at one time.

Maintained by the Battle of Britain Memorial Trust, the site at Capel-le-Ferne is dedicated to the bravery and the heroism of Churchill's "Few" who fought in the skies overhead to keep this country free from Hitler's invasion force.
The memorial itself inspires quiet reflection on the bravery shown by the aircrew - fewer than 3,000 men - who flew, fought and sometimes died in what was probably the most crucial victory achieved by this country in the whole of the 20th century.
At the back of the site the Christopher Foxley-Norris Memorial Wall lists the names of all those who took part in the Battle, while a replica Spitfire and Hurricane stand nearby as a reminder of the machines they flew to victory.

House Painting: Enhancing Your Home’s Beauty
House painting is both an art and a science. It combines aesthetics with durability to protect and beautify homes. The practice has a rich history, evolving significantly with modern advancements. Today, house painting not only improves curb appeal but also boosts property value and safeguards surfaces against the elements.
Benefits of House Painting:
• Enhances curb appeal.
• Increases property value.
• Protects surfaces from weather damage.
Studies show that a fresh coat of paint can significantly raise a home’s value. Professional house painters use high-quality paints to ensure long-lasting results. These professionals understand the importance of selecting the right paint color and type of paint used to achieve optimal results.
In summary, house painting is crucial for preserving and enhancing your home’s appearance and integrity. It’s a wise investment that yields both aesthetic and financial rewards.
Top Color Trends for House Painting
When it comes to choosing house painting colors, understanding current trends can guide homeowners to make informed decisions. Exterior color trends now lean towards neutral tones like grays and beiges, complemented by bold accents on doors and trims. Region-specific preferences also play a vital role, as coastal areas often favor softer blues and greens.
For interiors, timeless shades such as whites and creams remain popular due to their versatility. However, trending colors like earthy terracotta and calming blues are gaining traction. The psychology of color suggests soft greens for relaxation or vibrant yellows to energize spaces.
Dark trims and monochromatic schemes are gaining popularity for modern exteriors, adding depth and sophistication to home facades. Advances in eco-friendly paint options now allow homeowners to prioritize sustainability without compromising on quality or color variety.
Choosing the right palette balances personal style, architectural features, and the surrounding environment. Platforms with interactive tools, such as virtual color selectors, make exploring options enjoyable and straightforward.
Selecting the Perfect Paint Finish for Your Home
Selecting the perfect paint finish is crucial for both aesthetics and functionality. Here’s a quick guide to help you choose the right paint finishes for house painting.
Flat Finish: Ideal for ceilings and low-traffic areas. It hides imperfections well but isn’t very durable.
Eggshell Finish: Best for living rooms and bedrooms. It offers a soft glow and easy maintenance.
Satin Finish: Suitable for hallways and family rooms. It’s durable and cleans easily, making it a popular choice.
Semi-Gloss Finish: Perfect for trim and high-moisture areas like kitchens and bathrooms. It offers good durability and a subtle shine.
Gloss Finish: Used for doors and moldings. It’s the most durable and gives a shiny look.
Explore the durability and maintenance requirements of different paint finishes to choose the best option for your needs.
Emerging Trends:
Combining traditional flat with modern satin or gloss adds depth and style, perfect for both classic and contemporary homes.
Consider these options to achieve the best finishes for walls and durable exterior finishes tailored to your needs.
Common House Painting Problems and How to Avoid Them
House painting can encounter several frequent challenges, but understanding these issues can lead to lasting results. Peeling and cracking often occur due to inadequate surface preparation. To prevent this, ensure surfaces are clean and dry before applying a fresh coat. Solutions include scraping off loose paint, sanding rough areas, and using a high-quality primer to create a strong base. Additionally, choosing paints designed for specific surfaces, such as wood or masonry, can further reduce the likelihood of peeling and cracking.
Fading colors result from UV exposure and harsh weather. Choosing high-quality paints with UV resistance and opting for lighter shades can help maintain vibrancy. For areas with intense sunlight, applying a protective topcoat can further shield colors from fading. Regular maintenance, such as cleaning dirt and grime off exterior surfaces, also prolongs the life of your paint job.
For moisture problems like mildew and water stains, it’s crucial to address any water leaks and apply mildew-resistant paint. Ensuring proper ventilation in high-humidity areas, such as bathrooms and kitchens, can prevent moisture buildup that leads to these issues. Sealing exterior cracks and gaps with caulking helps keep water out and safeguards against long-term damage.
DIY mistakes often arise from using low-quality tools or skipping necessary steps. Professional house painters avoid these by utilizing quality materials, such as durable brushes and rollers, and following proven techniques. They understand the importance of accurate paint application and detailed surface preparation, ensuring a flawless finish. Homeowners can save time, money, and frustration by investing in professional expertise, especially for complex projects.
How Often Should You Repaint Your House?
Keeping your house looking fresh involves regular maintenance and thorough attention to repainting timelines. Here’s what you need to know.
Interior Repainting
The need for interior repainting depends on room usage and wear. High-traffic areas like kitchens, hallways, and children’s rooms may need a fresh coat every 3 to 4 years. Less used spaces, such as dining rooms or adult bedrooms, can last 5 to 7 years with proper upkeep.
Exterior Repainting
Exterior paint faces more challenging conditions. Climate, material type, and exposure to elements can affect the frequency of repainting. Homes in harsh climates may need repainting every 5 to 7 years, while those in milder environments might stretch this to 7 to 10 years.
Signs to Repaint
Pay attention to key signs: fading, peeling, or chipping paint. These indicate it’s time to repaint.
Cost Savings
Regular maintenance prevents costly repairs, providing long-term savings. A consistent schedule ensures your house remains protected and visually appealing.
To maintain your home’s beauty and structure, adhere to this house painting maintenance guide and pay attention to when it’s time to repaint.
The Impact of Weather and Environment on House Painting
House painting is greatly affected by climate and weather conditions. Ultraviolet (UV) rays, humidity, rain, and freezing temperatures can influence paint durability. Therefore, choosing the right time of year for painting is crucial. Spring and fall, when temperatures are moderate, are often the best times for painting projects.
When selecting paint, eco-friendly options like low-VOC and sustainable paints are wise choices. These paints are better for the environment and often offer better performance in varying weather conditions. Additionally, regional adaptations to paint choices can enhance longevity. For example, in sunny climates, UV-resistant paints can prevent fading. In humid areas, mildew-resistant paints are ideal.
Windy conditions can also pose challenges during painting, as they can cause uneven application or blow debris onto wet surfaces. For areas with heavy rainfall, waterproof paints or sealants are essential to protect exterior walls.
By considering these environmental factors, you can ensure a longer-lasting and more vibrant paint job for your home.
Professional House Painting: From Preparation to Perfection
A professional house painting project involves several key steps to ensure a high-quality finish. First, preparation is crucial. Surfaces must be cleaned to remove dirt and debris. Sanding smooths any rough spots, while repair work addresses damage. Priming the surface creates a perfect foundation for the paint.
Next comes the painting process, where choosing the right tools and techniques is vital. Paint brushes and rollers are used alongside methods that ensure even coverage. High-quality paints are selected to attain a flawless finish.
Timelines vary depending on the project’s scope. Smaller areas might take a couple of days, while larger homes could require weeks.
Visual transformations highlight the impact of this process. Before-and-after comparisons showcase dramatic enhancements in curb appeal.
Steps for Professional House Painting:
1. Clean surfaces
2. Sand and repair
3. Prime surfaces
4. Choose quality paint and tools
5. Apply paint carefully for a perfect finish
With these steps, house painting becomes an art of turning a house into a dream home.
The Benefits of Hiring Professional House Painters
Hiring professional house painters offers many benefits over tackling a paint job yourself. Professionals bring expertise and precision to ensure high-quality, long-lasting results. Their attention to detail and experience leads to a flawless finish that DIY attempts can rarely match.
Choosing professionals also saves homeowners time and effort, providing convenience and efficiency. Instead of spending weekends laboring over a paint project, expert painters manage the job quickly and effectively, minimizing disruptions to your daily life.
Professional painters have access to premium materials, using high-quality tools, paints, and techniques. This not only makes the outcome superior but also extends the longevity of the paint job.
Moreover, hiring professionals provides peace of mind thanks to warranties and guarantees. These assurances mean any unforeseen issues will be addressed, offering reliable results and satisfied customers.
Advantages of Professional Painters:
> Expertise and precision
> Time-saving convenience
> Access to premium materials
> Warranties and guarantees
Opting for professional painting services ensures your home looks its best, delivering beautiful and lasting results without the hassle.
Painting Different Homes and Surfaces: What You Need to Know
House painting is a versatile service that can transform any home, no matter its style or the type of surface it has. Whether your home is modern, traditional, ranch, or Victorian, there are specific techniques to make each unique.
Surface-Specific Techniques:
• Wood Siding: Requires proper priming and a fresh coat with premium paints for durability.
• Stucco: Needs a specialized technique to ensure the paint adheres well and lasts longer.
• Brick: Often involves power washing to remove loose paint before applying a coat of paint. A paint roller is used for even coverage.
• Vinyl Siding: Choosing the correct type of paint and color is crucial, as vinyl can expand or contract.
• Aluminum Siding: Needs careful prep to ensure the paint job looks great and resists peeling.
When painting historic homes, it’s important to respect the original paint colors and use techniques fit for restoration. Successful paint projects have shown that understanding the unique needs of different surfaces, whether it’s using a paint brush in tight areas or a pressure washer for exterior jobs, is key to achieving satisfied customers and minimal disruptions.
Achieving the perfect paint job requires knowledge and preparation, ensuring every surface receives the care it deserves.
Understanding House Painting Costs: What Influences the Price?
Understanding the costs involved in house painting is crucial for transparency. The price can vary based on several factors including home size, type of paint used, labor, and preparation work. Larger homes generally require more paint and time, increasing costs. The choice between standard and premium paints also impacts the final price.
There are often hidden expenses to consider. Repairs to surfaces, priming, and the need for additional coats can add to the overall cost. While some may opt for a DIY approach to save money, the long-term value of hiring professionals should not be underestimated. Professional painters bring expertise and efficiency, often resulting in a more durable finish.
Budgeting for painting doesn’t have to mean compromising quality. Consider these tips: obtain multiple quotes, discuss your options with paint contractors, and explore color consultations for efficient paint use.
Make informed decisions by understanding these factors. This will help you budget effectively for your next painting project while ensuring quality results.

Meath, Ireland on Wednesday 3rd July 2013 at 20:00. South O'Hanlon AC have again organised one of the best value races of it's kind in the country and maintain the very high standard set by other races in the Meath Road Racing Calendar. Congratulations are extended to all at South O'Hanlon, the local community, and other Meath athletics clubs, which made this another very successful night. The club provides prizes in a very wide range of categories and there was a very large spread of refreshments afterwards in the GAA clubhouse. The well known Seneschalstown G.A.A club provide the facilities for registration, showers, and after-race activities.
This route was first run in 2010 and hasn't changed since. The race starts about 1KM from the race HQ at the lovely setting of Beauparc Railway Crossing on the old Navan-Drogheda railway line (race start here goo.gl/maps/SVWWY). The race proceeds in an anti-clockwise left handed loop, following the L1600, and passing the GAA grounds before taking a left to Dollardstown, to Yellow Furze, and bringing runners back to the start area at Beauparc for the final kilometer of the race back to the finish.

I ran in the race - but my photograph doesn't appear here in your Flickr set! What gives?
As mentioned above we take these photographs as a hobby and as a voluntary contribution to the running community in Ireland. Very often we have actually ran in the same race and then switched to photographer mode after we finished the race. Consequently, we feel that we have no obligations to capture a photograph of every participant in the race. However, we do try our very best to capture as many participants as possible. But this is sometimes not possible for a variety of reasons:
►You were hidden behind another participant as you passed our camera
►Weather or lighting conditions meant that we had some photographs with blurry content which we did not upload to our Flickr set
►There were too many people - some races attract thousands of participants and as amateur photographs we cannot hope to capture photographs of everyone
►We simply missed you - sorry about that - we did our best!
You can email us petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com to enquire if we have a photograph of you which didn't make the final Flickr selection for the race. But we cannot promise that there will be photograph there. As alternatives we advise you to contact the race organisers to enquire if there were (1) other photographs taking photographs at the race event or if (2) there were professional commercial sports photographers taking photographs which might have some photographs of you available for purchase. You might find some links for further information above.
Don't like your photograph here?
That's OK! We understand!
If, for any reason, you are not happy or comfortable with your picture appearing here in this photoset on Flickr then please email us at petermooney78 AT gmail DOT com and we will remove it as soon as possible. We give careful consideration to each photograph before uploading.
I want to tell people about these great photographs!

Historians and archaeologists maintain that the pagoda was built by the Mon people between the 6th and 10th centuries AD. However, according to legend, the Shwedagon Pagoda was constructed more than 2,600 years ago, which would make it the oldest Buddhist stupa in the world. According to tradition, Tapussa and Bhallika — two merchant brothers from the north of Singuttara Hill what is currently Yangon met the Lord Gautama Buddha during his lifetime and received eight of the Buddha's hairs. The brothers returned to Burma and, with the help of the local ruler, King Okkalapa, found Singuttara Hill, where relics of other Buddhas preceding Gautama Buddha had been enshrined.
The stupa fell into disrepair until the 14th century, when King Binnya U (1323–1384) rebuilt it to a height of 18 m. A century later, Queen Binnya Thau (1453–1472) raised its height to 40 m. She terraced the hill on which it stands, paved the top terrace with flagstones, and assigned land and hereditary slaves for its maintenance. Binnya Thau yielded up the throne to her son-in-law Dhammazedi in 1472, retiring to Dagon. During her last illness she had her bed placed so that she could look upon the gilded dome of the stupa. The Mon face of the Shwedagon inscription catalogues a list of repairs beginning in 1436 and finishing during Dhammazedi's reign. By the beginning of the 16th century, Shwedagon Pagoda had become the most famous Buddhist pilgrimage site in Burma.
Shwedagon Pagoda in the 1890s
A series of earthquakes during the following centuries caused damage. The worst damage was caused by a 1768 earthquake that brought down the top of the stupa, but King Hsinbyushin later raised it to its current height of 99 m. A new crown umbrella was donated by King Mindon Min in 1871 after the annexation of Lower Burma by the British. An earthquake of moderate intensity in October 1970 put the shaft of the crown umbrella visibly out of alignment. A scaffold was erected and extensive repairs were made.
Listed buildings cannot be demolished. So in Glasgow you see many retained facades, or pieces of facades, with almost entire new buildings attached to them. This church was lying derelict for years. I think there will be flats here

To Maintain Integrity
Reading: 2 Corinthians 4:2
Integrity demands that in every segment of our life, treated with the same intensity, as we have the same commitment to keep excellence in our marriage as we had done in our career. You have the same commitment to make excellence in ministry as you do in our parenting. Let us learned to become a person of integrity by:
=> Keeping promises. People of integrity always keep their word, as the Bible says in Proverbs 25:14, “ Like clouds and wind without rain is one who boasts of gifts never given."
=> Paying your bills. You spend more money than you get yourself in debt for things that you can’t pay off?, that is a lack of integrity. Psalm 37:21 says, “The wicked borrow and do not repay, but the righteous give generously."
=> Refusing to gossip. God is looking for men and women of integrity who know how to keep a secret and not pass it around on social media, and don’t talk about people behind their back, don’t even listen to gossip!, as the Bible saya in Proverbs 11:13 “ A gossip betrays a confidence, but a trustworthy person keeps a secret.”
=> By doing your best at work. The Bible says in Colossians 3:23, “ Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters". If you’re a believer, your real boss is God, and whether or not anybody else sees your work, God does.
=> By being real with others. A person of integrity does not act one way as in church and another way at work or another way on the social lives. "Rather, we have renounced secret and shameful ways; we do not use deception, nor do wedistort the word of God. On the contrary, by setting forth the truth plainly we commendourselves to everyone’s conscience in thesight of God." (2 Corinthians 4:2 ) Hallelujah, God bless

The eighth annual Earth Week tree planting took place in Earl Bales Park on Sunday April 17, 2011 - and despite the unseasonable snowfall, 220 volunteers turned out to plant over 500 native trees and shrubs. Along with the planting, the team cleaned the surrounding area of garbage and debris - helping to maintain one of Toronto’s vital green spaces. Last year, volunteers planted 350 trees and over the past 8 years the team of volunteers from LEAF and Toronto Hydro have revitalized Taylor Massey Creek and surrounding areas with enhanced green spaces.
