18th June 2018. Running into Platform 12 at Crewe is the Lakes Express. I was a bit surprised when I first saw the train as I was expecting Flying Scotsman to be at the head of the train. However, piloting The Lakes Express is LMS 5MT Black Five 4-6-0 No.45212 while LNER A3 4-6-2 No.60103 Flying Scotsman plays second fiddle as she is tucked inside.
In the background is the old Network Rail building and if you visit Crewe today you will notice that the new Crewe Alexandra Football Stadium has been built to the left of the Network Rail building.
