Found in East Lavant, near Goodwood. There's something very British about a mailbox built into a wall on the "mainroad" through a village.
Project 52, week 21
This weeks prompt "Line it up"
My imagination failed me this week, so it's only a row of mailboxes this time :)
Have a great weekend!
One of the beastliest hikes around in Washington. Via old trail, Mailbox Peak is a hellish 2.5 mile climb where you gain basically 1,500ft in elevation per mile. This was my 5th climb (via old trail of course) and even though it's one of the hardest, most painful hikes I've ever done, I will always have a soft spot of love for this trail.
I think it's funny how some mailboxes resemble faces. And when you also consider that mailboxes are very personal in most cases and often carry some very personal thoughts the comparison works even more for me. ...Btw. I kept all the blemishes on the mailbox on purpose, since human faces aren't perfect either, right!?
This old mailbox has been standing beside Pleasant View Road for many, many years. My dad put it up, but later had to give the old post a prop to keep it straight. It has been the recipient of letters, packages (it's a big box, and can hold a good size parcel), good news, invitations, Christmas cards, and of course, condolences. Dad has been gone for well over eleven years, so now it is Mom's box (although I received a piece of junkmail there just a few days ago despite the fact that I moved out of the homeplace about 28 years ago). She doesn't drive, have cable (no such thing that far out in the country), can't afford satellite TV, and wouldn't know how to turn on a computer if she had one. She's never received a text, and the only "mail" she ever gets comes from this old rusty box. The family mailbox ( (now Mom's) is the source of a lot of memories and anticipations for me, and will always hold a special place in my heart regardless of the rust and dings!

They were fixing one of the railroad crossings on the main backroad I take to work for about a week straight. I had to go a different route which includes more backroads I’d never been down before. Found this charming white mailbox across from a weedy dirt driveway. Couldn’t tell if there was still a home back there or not. If so, it’s definitely not in use but the mailbox? It was cool enough for a photo.
Found this little beauty on March Rd in Ottawa. Even since I started doing my mailbox project, I keep looking out for interesting mailboxes when I'm driving or cycling. This mailbox is still in use and operational.
Better for the eyes and soul in the light box!

So, there was the (larger, stripey, very fast) gecko that jumped out of the mailbox as I opened it...
...and then there was the super-tiny pale Gecko Beb that jumped out of the *mail* when I pulled the stack of letters out of the box!!
S/he jumped down to the curb, so I was able to get a picture before assisting Gecko Beb to a less hazardous spot :)
(We had heavy rain after a fabulous lightning show last night, so they had probably both been seeking shelter from the storm.)
