annie i were taking a walk in our neighborhood one day, and for whatever reason i decided to photograph various mailboxes along the way....that was about a month ago and then last nite i wasn't able to sleep after a fiasco that envolved my car and loosing my work ID, but that's another story altogether ....anyways......i couldn't sleep so i ended up making this collage....and then i went to bed and had a bad dream about being chased by a poisonous frog and almost overslept and was pertneer late to work! whew. i dont' know about you, but i'm soooooo ready for the weekend!

These mailboxes were so eye-catching that I stopped to snap a photo.

"Neither snow nor rain nor heat nor gloom of night stays these couriers from the swift completion of their appointed rounds".

This is commonly misidentified as the creed of our mail carriers, but actually it is just the inscription found on the General Post Office in New York City at 8th Avenue and 33rd Street.

An interesting mailbox

I liked this hummingbird mailbox along Salisbury Road.

A lonely mailbox braves a February snowstorm.

This old mailbox was abandoned because of the new Postal mail service regulations. If your mailbox was too close to the road, it was dangerous for the post-man. So they build little community boxes along our country roads for those who's box was too close. About half the mailboxes are ok. Some people have just left them there...abandoned.

Step away with your hands on your head!

This mailbox is a scale model of its owner's house. Unfortunately, I didn't get a shot of the real house.
