As we leave, the site, here is a far shot of the Tambdisurla Mahadev temple near the Dudhsagar falls in Goa. The temple is a bit out of the way and inside a forest, which is probably what really saved it from destruction at the hands of the invading Portuguese. The small, beautifully carved and perfectly proportioned black basalt Tambdisurla Mahadev temple is dedicated to the Hindu god Shiva and is considered to be the only surviving specimen of Kadamba-Yadava architecture in basalt stone in Goa. The temple faces east so that the rays of the rising sun fall on the presiding deity at the sunrise. Bas-relief figures of the Hindu gods Shiva, Vishnu and Brahma, along with their respective consorts are carved on the sides of the temple. Lord Shiva want to stay under sun.... thats the reason why he is called as TADKESHWAR, also the length of "Shiv Ling is 6 feet" which says that Lord is sleeping...."

'Tulsi Vivah' Celebration at Dhareshwar Mahadev Mandir

A selfie against the jungle surrounding the Tambdisurla Mahadev temple in Goa. The temple survived untouched due to its remote location in a clearing deep in the forest at the foot of the Western Ghats which surround the site due to which the invading Portuguese could not find it. The Tambdisurla Mahadev temple is considered to be the only specimen of Kadamba architecture in basalt stone preserved and still standing in Goa.
