Asia - Laos - Vientiane Province - Vang Vieng - Small traditional town surrounded by Limestone Hills - Nam Song River‏ with long tail boats

Vang Vieng is a small town surrounded by mountains & rivers. The main attractions are caves, Hmong villages, and the natural mountain scenery. A favorite with travelers - many stay longer than planned. However this town became too famous for them and became a party village. Music and noise last until late night. The market is located five kilometers north of the town selling Lao textiles, household items and several stalls selling dubious foodstuffs. It is possible for stalls to sell bats, squirrels, monkeys, rats, mice and other animals as food. In the town there is a wat that is notable in looking rundown and keeping its valuables chained behind a door.

The real attractions of the area are the scenery, the limestone hills and the numerous caves and caverns. Vang Vieng is set along the banks of the Nam Song River. In the near distance towering behind Vang Vieng are the most incredible rock formations. They are jagged limestone karsts that tower above the jungle - steep walls which have somehow eluded the jungle's grasp. In the morning hours a fine mists hovers just above the jungle at the base of these formations. In the evenings they form an incredible back drop for picture taking during the "golden hour."

Best On Black. This is one more shot of Haleakala Crater I am posting, The other tomorrow is of the actual sun crest. In addition to the cold and the wind, the difficulty for these shots was the incredible dynamic range of the subject with the sky many stops brighter than the foreground. After much work, I was able to pull out an image that captures what I remember seeing.

Second picture of the series City of Science Dawn.

Magical sunrise over the City of Science from my hometown Valencia.

The main difference from my previous photo, is that this have the reflection on the water and black and white.

Having so much light, but i wanted to make a very long exposure with painting trace in the clouds.

To reach this picture in one unique Raw, I combined a screwed neutral filter of ten steps and black card technique.

I hope you like it. Have a nice Sunday. :)

Fourth picture of the series Lonely.

(Horizontal view, a few minutes after the Sunset, just at Blue Hour).

Tired of photographing the most characteristic and saturated places in the area, I went to a zone of very bad access between rice fields.

The result was finding this lonely boat just to the side of a rural road.

I waited for sunset, and after a few minutes right at the blue hour, there was luck and some cloud came to be reflected in the water.

I hope you like it. Have a nice Wednesday. :)

The night of the Christmas Eve was icy with fog. On Christmas morning, the sun rose. The forest decorated itself with twinkling lights, contrasts between the white frost and the black shadows, and holding back the sun's rays it captured banks of mist in its branches till noon.

Amazing 5 minute golden hour at the sunset after a thunderstorm.

Antalya (formerly known as Adalia or Attalia; from Pamphylian Greek: Αττάλεια Attáleia) is a city on the Mediterranean coast of southwestern Turkey, and the capital city of Antalya Province. Situated on coastal cliffs, Antalya is surrounded by mountains. It is not known when the site of the current city was first inhabited. Attalos II, king of Pergamon, was believed to have founded the city around 150 BC, naming it Attalia and selecting it as a naval base for his powerful fleet. However, excavations in 2008 in the Doğu Garajı district of Antalya have uncovered remains dating to the 3rd century BC, suggesting that the city was founded earlier than previously supposed. Antalya became part of the Roman Republic in 133 BC when King Attalos III of Pergamum willed his kingdom to Rome at his death. Development and investment, began in the 1970s, have transformed the city into a major international resort.

I dont know why, but when hearing Antalya before my last trip, I pictured kilometers of sandy beaches covered with one resort next to each other, sunbed next to sunbed ... simply perfect place for the mass tourism and last place I'd like to spend my holiday. Bigger the surprise when arriving to the beautiful boutique hotel in the very center of old Antalya called Kaleiçi. It is restored historical center of the city - with its hotels, bars, clubs, restaurants, and shopping. It retains much of its historical character. The city includes sites with traces of Lycian, Pamphylian, and Hellenistic -but mainly Roman, Byzantine, Seljuk and Ottoman- architecture and cultures. Old city is now beatifically transformed and most of the wonderful Otoman houses are now hotels with lot of charm.

This particular beach location was more of a surprise as I planned to shoot the morning blue hour in the old harbor (after checking to the hotel at 1AM, 5AM wake up call is something we all dream off !! ) Blue hour shoot in the harbor didn't give me what I was hoping for, but I didn't give up and just wondered around as the sun was rising up behind the city beautifully coloring the mountains on the horizon. I've discovered small, rather hidden beach with beautiful rocks which created perfect foreground for this shot.

Middle East - Sultanate of Oman - Dhofar Province - Salalah Area - صلالة - Ṣalālah - Rakhyut - Rakhyot - Beach village on scenic coastal location along Indian Ocean surrounded by rugged mountains during Khareef - Rainy Season bringing misty & foggy weather

Salalah and Dhofar region offers visitors an enormous variety of things to see and do. The natural beauty of the surrounding area is breathtaking. You can witness the stunning views of dramatic mountains reaching right to the edge of the sea. You can experience wadis and beaches as well as the springs. Salalah is a coastal city located on the shores of the Indian Ocean, in the southern part of Oman. Although close to the Arabian desert, Salalah enjoys a pleasant tropical climate and even in the summer the temperatures are not too hot as the coastal fringe of Dhofar and Salalah is touched by the winds of the southwest monsoon between June and September. The surface winds encourage an upwelling of colder waters in the Indian Ocean which cool the over-lying moisture-laden air. The fog cools temperatures considerably, such that Salalah is a popular destination for Gulf visitors in the summer as a respite from the relentless heat. The phenomenon of this rain-bearing fog is known locally as the Khareef.

This photo is taken at Dhalkut beach during Khareef season. Dhalkut is located on the far west of Dhofar and has enjoyed its own merchant sea trade with the ports of the Gulf and Yemen, exporting leather, honey, figs and frankincense. This wilayat has many springs which burst forth from the wadis of the Jebel al Qamar (Mountains of the Moon). The caves and grottos in the area have provided shepherds and flocks with safe refuge from adverse weather conditions for centuries. Dalkut is 160 Kilometres west of Salalah. To reach it, you drive to al Mughsail, then up the steep winding Aqeeshan road to the Niyabat of Shahb As'eeb in the Wilayat of Rakhyut and from there to Wadi Seeq and Dalkut. The seas off Dalkut's rocky shore are full of fish and crustaceans.

A new experience to me, exploring slot canyons of Utah, I was too big and tall and struggled to get through some of these, really a strange but awesome experience. The Mid-Day sun makes for glorious colors on the canyon walls.

We shot this photo yesterday. The weather was sunny and a bit windy. 10 minutes after starting the photoshoot weather changed and huge black clouds started gathering above us. Suddenly rain started and hail followed. We were deep in the forest and getting out was very hard and adventurous. I even got stuck in the mud with my car and hardly got out. When we finally made it we were greeted by a beautiful rainbow. I think these girls together have some special power 🔮

You can see all the 20-minute work photos on my website. I wish I had more time to shoot the beautiful moments we had yesterday...

This is a shot of Jeddah north corniche. You can see a familiar little mosque in left top corner of the shot. This view is taken from Hilton hotel room during Friday evening at sunset time. Many of you might not know that weekend might mean something else here in the Middle East. It varies across countries, however Friday is a day of rest for everybody. Official weekend in Kuwait or UAE is Friday & Saturday, while in Saudi Arabia, official weekend is Thursday & Friday if people are lucky to get two days off. Friday therefore is a busiest day of the week when it comes to socializing and leisure activities, particularly on the beach front. You can see many cars part along the corniche and very busy roads. The day before or after at very same time you’d see only few cars here and there.

This photo was taken at incredibly beautiful and overwhelming place - Praia da Ursa (Ursa Beach). The rocks, the waves and the wind make for a mindblowing spectacle. It is considered the most beautiful beach of Portugal and one of the most beautiful beaches in Europe. This picture was taken with the strongest sunset light just before the sun has disappeared for that day.

Yesterday I was in Emmerich am Rhein in Germany and I was trying to capture a beautiful sunset. This couple came down the road only to watch the sunset, I waited for the right moment and captured this moment.

Pioggia d’inverno,

This is shot from a bridge over the highway, it wasn't completely dark but dark enough to accomplish this image with a very low shutter speed.

What a magic light when the sun tries to penetrate the mist.

This is a 10 minute long exposure using the Super Stopper from Lee Filter.

The lack of visible horizon makes me think about at the great great U2 album from early 2009 "No Line on the Horizon" with songs as "Magnificent" and "No Line on the Horizon".

A view from the Varhosť outlook tower...

I'd like to share some words with you about this picture cause i really like it myself even if the content of it is just ok and not that great for the typical landscape photography.

So here we got a situation where light is doing it's magic all by it self mostly. On the background it's raining while on the foreground it's not and the sun shines through a hole in the clouds so that's why we see those beams of light coming at a perfect angle and making the scene awesome.

You can see the rain falling heavilly at the left of the image over that hill. Compositionally i ain't following any rules most of the time, i just look for the right perspective in a landscape that i think it gives depth to an image. The only thing i do since i was a child when composing and i am not sure if it exists somewhere as a guideline is that i treat most of my pictures as a flat painting and i look for symmetry even if the photo is quite 3Dimensional as this one.

So here we can see a horizontal S shaped line splitting the image in a bottom half and an upper half between the rainy dark area and the shiny foreground . In each of those halfs i also see a pattern that reflects over both of them in symmetry.

Thats the hole in the clouds on top along with that dark little cloud in the middle reflecting almost as an identicall oval shape/butterfly wing on the bottom half on those green fields where the trees in the middle represent the little dark cloud on top of the image. The light beams also help to connect those two symmetric reflected halfs into an image i had in my mind when i took the shot.
