The Strategic Air Command arrived at RAF Alconbury on 1 October 1982 when the 17th Reconnaissance Wing (17th RW) was activated. The 17th RW was assigned to SAC's Eighth Air Force, 7th Air Division. The operational squadron of the 17th RW was the 95th Reconnaissance Squadron, flying the TR-1A, a tactical reconnaissance version of the Lockheed U-2. In 1992 all TR-1s were designated U-2Rs.
The arrival of the U-2 led to a large remodelling of the northern section of the airfield to accommodate these aircraft and their specialised mission. Work included the construction of five prefabricated ‘Ready Sheds’, thirteen extra-wide hardened aircraft shelters, a squadron headquarters, a massive Avionics and Photography Interpretation Centre, and new concrete aprons and taxiways. In addition, in order to ensure that the 17th Reconnaissance Wing would always have a command post for its TR-1A aircraft, a nuclear-hardened command post facility was constructed with its own power plant, communications facilities, air supply, and decontamination facility, to help the wing continue operations during a nuclear war. During its operation, it was officially known as Building 210, but was better known by its nickname, 'Magic Mountain'. It was closed in 1991, is now open to the public under the care of English Heritage. It has been refurbished, with plans for it to be used as an emergency facility in the event of a natural disaster.

Disneyland Park welcomes “Magic Happens”, the park’s first new daytime parade in nearly a decade—and an unforgettable spectacle that reminds us wings aren’t needed to fly, shooting stars were created for wishes and magic doesn’t end at midnight!
I feel like this is a very old attraction but I have been to the parks a number of times in the ninteys before it was shut down. Everytime I go back to magic kingdom with my mom she mentions the Skyway "Buckets" at least once. I found a couple of very old Disney photos from the 70's (I think) taken from the Skyway, I wish I would have gotten to ride it.

My Magic Mouse arrived in the mail 2 days ago. I was going to write about it straightaway, but decided it best to use the mouse for a few days and let it sink in before reviewing it. So, 2 days later and my thoughts so far? Well, it has replaced my wireless Mighty Mouse. ^^.
Used in a blog post at http://www.kenleewrites.com/2009/10/apple-magic-mouse.html.
Remember those "magic trees" from when you were a kid? I do! And I saw one at the dollar store the other day... A must have upon first sight. I've been wanting to do more macro time lapses, and this was the perfect subject. I'll probably buy a few more and see if I can do one better than this... I think I can. The music is part of a NIN song I remixed.

We are creating a decorated frame for our Magic Theater, a mobile stage we built for our first puppet show, Ubu’s Dreams. We will premiere it during our Dada exhibit at the Canessa Gallery in North Beach, from Nov. 3 to 12, 2016.
Phyllis and Jean are creating the art for this Magic Theater frame, which includes an elegant marquee at the top and two columns on either side of the stage. Along with Mark, we are discussing different ways to decorate this frame: aluminum foil, cloth, wrapping paper -- and a variety of laser cut shapes from toy theater carvings to ‘pataphysical symbols.
The proscenium shape was designed by Fabrice Florin (a.k.a. Dr. Fabio), and is inspired by a marionette theater created by dada puppeteer Sophie Taeuber-Arp. Using a laser cutter, we carved this Illustrator design into thin sheets of birch plywood, and assembled them together with woodstrips and epoxy, clamped over a PVC frame.
This is one of the first creative projects we are starting in our new art studio. It’s turning out to be a great space to make art with friends and work on new ‘pataphysical projects.
