This is cool. It's 3 small, very shiny, beads that are completely turquoise. The dark pattern reflections on them came from the LED light cubes I used to to lighten the scene.

A close-up macro photograph of a ladybug resting on a dew-covered leaf after the rain. Every tiny detail, from the sparkling water droplets to the intricate texture of the insect, reveals the hidden beauty of the miniature world found in nature.

My photograph, "Interior Flame on Teal," offers a dramatic, close-up look at the vibrant world inside a red bell pepper. The striking contrast between the pepper’s fiery, saturated orange-red interior and the cool, deep teal background immediately draws the eye.
The composition, with the pepper sliced open and positioned against the saturated background, creates a powerful visual focus. The texture is a key element: the smooth, glossy exterior and interior walls of the pepper contrast with the fascinating cluster of pale, papery seeds at the center. The slightly translucent quality of the pepper's flesh near the core allows light to filter through, giving the whole piece a beautiful luminosity. The remnants of the dark, woody part of the core and the bright green stem provide smaller points of color and texture variation.
This image isolates the subject, showing how even a common kitchen item can hold remarkable complexity and beauty when viewed at a macro level.
Last Friday we were taking a walk along a beach, when I came across this piece of damaged wood eaten out by shipworms.
In taking this photo I was intrigued by what looked like many teeth marks around the holes.
I researched what might have caused the holes and learned about shipworms (and if you look closely at one of the holes and I think the remains of a worm is still in there.)
I learned that marine shipworms have hundreds of sharp invisible teeth and then store the wood they eat in a special digestive sack, where bacteria degrade it. These unique creatures burrow into wood, using it for food and shelter.

Sometimes I have to play Nursey, but my knowledge stops at applying cream and plaster to the wound...after that I let the doctors take over.
Sometimes theme pictures jump out at me when I least expect it. For the theme of "Love" I wracked my brains and came up with not much. Given that we are in an older age group with no family around us, and we live in a fairly isolated area, I had no clues. But then today, while I was outside photographing water droplets on moss after overnight rain, this leaf presented itself to me. Just look at the lovely droplets around the heart shape and how it has pinky reflections from a pink net I have hanging over some plants.
So, as my picture title states, it was nature's message of love.

From Camera to Flickr. No post editing (Apart from the file name of course). This was shortly before the sunset. A calm atmosphere, the sound of a few distant birds. This wild flower or weed was almost still. Not quite silhouette which is nice.

My very favourite poppy is flowering right now. It's called Ladybird Poppy. It's the reddest of reds in colour, with two large black spots each side of the stamens - hence the name "Ladybird" (Ladybug in America?) On this occasion I backlit the flower, which was no more than 6cm (2.5 inches) wide, at night to give full effect. The light behind created the lovely paler striped effect on the under petals. These flowers only last a day however they're absolutely flourishing at the moment and, as one falls away, another blooms in its place.
From Camera to Flickr. No post editing (Apart from the file name of course). This was about 45 minutes before the sunset. A calm atmosphere, the sound of a few distant birds. I think this is Old Man's Beard (Clematis Vitalba). So delicate, soft and swaying in a light breeze.
