Lagria hirta
Nikon D500 Sigma 105mm
Lagria hirta is a species of beetles in the family Tenebrionidae. The species name hirta comes from the Latin hirtus meaning rough hair or rough wool, referring to the coarse, fuzzy appearance of the beetle.
As an ambassador of sea fruits, the algae carry a special message: Bring the elegance of the deep ocean to the landlovers! This one took his task particularly serious. It bowed and scraped before me bathing in sunlight, spinned and twisted. Yes, it downright played with the camera. Of course I cheered it on like "Come on Baby, show me what you got! Bend a little further, don't be ashamed of your curves. Halt, holy, way too laszivious, this isn't that kind of shooting!"
Oh boy, you have to be really careful with these crazy rascals!
I stacked 11 pictures for the foreground mostly for practice, less pictures should have been sufficient though.

A present from Japan. Press his little snout - see him poo out some pencil lead.

Not long after the explosion of voices in my head, I now find myself stumbling in and out of strange visions. A glance toward the tree flings me deep into its flowers. The dizzyness sends my stomach swirling. This pungent sweet aroma is not making it any better. While I always found flowers beautiful, I never experienced the feeling of being a flower. I feel myself being tossed around by what must be a Summer breeze, but I cannot move. How long has this been? How do I get out? The fear begins to wrench at me as my stomach swirls into a knot. I suppose the only place left to go, is further within.
An excerpt from an upcoming story. Experimenting with high key macro lighting and nature abstraction. Searching for something within the petals. An explosion of color for your day.

Hey there flickr-friends,
enjoying your weekend?
As so often I recently spent my Friday evening in a forest, but the typical macro-mood didn't want to surface. I wandered aimlessly around, found hardly any models and was about to give up. Of course I didn't give in to the gloom and explored further, as I suddenly found a big beetle (burying beetle) on a fern. He was completely covered in mites and I thought his number was up. He barely moved and I tried to cheer him up snapping pictures: "Oh well, those beasts are everywhere. Snap. You're done... Snap. Fortunately I hold the key to immortality in my hands. Snap. Holy shit (snap, snap, snap), now the beasts crawl about your eyes with their dirty feet. I can't remove these masses. Snap. Hold on tight!"
It went on a while like this, until the beetle started to stir and I encouraged him more heartening than before. Obviously I aroused his defiance! Unexpectedly all the mites gathered beautifully behaving on the beetle's back, he looked at me one last time and simply flew away. "Wow!", I though proudly. "I'm a darn saint!"
Back at home I read that the mites didn't feast on the beetle, but they all rather lived symbiotic. When burying beetles find carcasses and pitch into the carrion, the mites take care of the flies' eggs, which get pumped into the carcasses inevitably. Thus the mites get fed, while the beetles can tug a cleaned carcass underground, where the females lay their eggs and live together with their offspring off the prey. What a thoughtful cycle!

Hallo flickr-Freunde,
Combination of a purple and white iris and the burgundy one that is in the picture before this one........getting back in the "macro-mood" again....think I created the punk rock of drops...!....lol

Had my 1st play with the D850's Focus Shift mode with the macro lens.
This was 100 images taken on a tripod then stacked with Helicon Focal software. New to both so today was a bit of an experiment.
The image quality is stunning (you cant see that on FB)
Holly study in natural light.

Macro shot, just a quick monochrome conversion to give the image a tonal contrast to make the shot stand out.

The Cassidinae (tortoise and leaf-mining beetles) are a subfamily of the leaf beetles, or Chrysomelidae. The antennae arise close to each other and some members have the pronotal and elytral edges extended to the side and covering the legs so as to give them the common name of tortoise beetles.

Crissi Rae Liu my granddaughter born in New York
Now 8 years old, these photos was shot in her 2 years old
I have been in a macro mood lately, so here is another butterfly. This is one of those, "is it worth it shots". These guys flit around a dirt road of a preserve I go to and are very hard to get close too. They seem to prefer the minerals found on the road rather than taking flower nectar. This one landed not to far from me. I knew I couldn't move much and the only way to get a nice low POV was to lie on my belly in a mud puddle. I decided with how hard these guys are to get it was worth it and I got my shot. If I missed it though, I wouldn't have been happy at all though (lol). ;^) My photography day was over after this shot though and I went home to change my clothes.
I hope everyone enjoys this image! :^)
The scientific name of this species is: Limenitis arthemis.
I think Patience is one of the key elements in photography. You will get your desired shot sooner or later. Wildlife photographers are master in this.
For these shots had to try for three days. But I think it worth it. These ants were thirsty. And these are plain water. But You can use sugar water.
Taken from my roof. So I haven't had to travel anywhere for this.
Had a lot of time to observe. And I could focus only on the shot. This is the beauty of macro photography. You don't need to go far. Your subjects are around you may be they are on the roof of your house or at the backyard or maybe inside your head. Yes you could make your own interesting subjects and photograph them in your bedroom, kitchen or bathroom and they could be world class. Many world class macro photographs are taken this way. For example don komarechka takes most of his extraordinary droplet photos from his kitchen. So we shouldn't let immobility our limitation. We could always find something everywhere
