Love Exposure's layout!

I had no idea what this was that I found in my garden today.

Thanks to Alan for ID. See link below for details.

I couldn't choose between them, so I'm putting both up.

Yay, this little guy got up to #7 on Explore :)

Technique: It was 11C but sunny at first so a lot of insects were out foraging today. I used a syringe to inject artificial nectar onto the flowers so the critters would have a reason to let me get close.

Tech Specs: Canon 70D (F11, 1/125, ISO 200) + a Canon EF-S 60mm macro lens with 37mm of extension + a diffused MT-24EX (flash head "A" set as the key and "B" as the fill, with the key on a Kaiser flash shoes). This is a single, uncropped, frame taken hand held. The camera is set to expose for the natural light in the background but the sun went behind the clouds. The flash was in E-TTL mode (-1/3 FEC) and used to expose the subject.

initially, i thought they were mating but on closer inspection, i saw cannibalism first hand. i felt pity to the red damsel but one must die so that others may live. this is one of nature's harshest law.

This tiny gall wasp wandered the hibiscus anthers...

And, John meets depth of field! The aphid was in focus, but the ladybug's eyes were not. I had fun with this shot anyway.

P.S. This is the last day for the "people you follow" page on Flickr. I will greatly miss it!

I noticed this miniature fly species on the handlebar grip of one of our bicycles.

First test with the Mitutoyo 5X. Pentax SMC K 135mm f2.5 as tube lens. So the magnification is about 3.3X

Sorry for reflections. Need to redesign the diffuser.

finally, i had a clean shot of its head..
