This one was more of a challenge than the others. It is an HDR, tone-mapped from 7 flatbed scanner exposures. The scanner was set to Transparency mode and the black / white points and mid range exposure was adjusted for each scan to get good exposures from all of the varying densities of the translucent minerals.
I also took a single scan in Reflected mode to get detail in the outermost rings of the pattern. This was blended with the HDR in Photoshop. Because the HDR had some flaring effects around the edge of the stone, I created a mask to clamp the tones and give a sharper edge. I placed the result on a black background to accentuate the stained glass glow of this agate.
This is another in a series of experiments on using a flatbed scanner as a macro capture device
Serduszka okazałe, serduszka okazała, ładniczka okazała, biskupie serce, serce Jasia (Big hearts, episcopal heart, John's heart) - Lamprocapnos spectabilis (L.) Fukuhara, it belongs to family Papaveraceae Juss.
Unfortunately I was using my macro lens today so the curious sea lions chewing my flippers and nuzzling my camera were more of a nuisance than a photo op. These three shots are of the same young individual. I'm really happy with the detail of the iris that the macro captured!
Taken at my wife's parents' house - unfortunately, honeybees are becoming increasingly hard to find.

The Dubai Mall's Dubai Aquarium and Discovery Centre, developed and operated by Oceanis Australia Group, officially earned the Guinness World Record for the world's "Largest Acrylic Panel" (32.88 m wide × 8.3 m high × 750 mm thick and weighing 245,614 kg). The acrylic viewing panel is larger than Japan's Okinawa Churaumi Aquarium (22.5 m wide × 8.2 m high and 600 mm thick). Its 750 mm thick acrylic viewing panel can withstand pressure of 10 million litres of water used in the aquarium, but its transparency gives visitors clear views of over 33,000 marine animals on display

Mobile macro capture of a single, perfect, white flower shot on a sunny spring day in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
One of fifty-one new designs I captured from inside one of my real kaleidoscope. This particular scope uses light from the side which reflects through colored glass into pieces of glass and jewels floating in oil. It also has a black bottom and black sides so the light actually illuminates the inside items like neon.

here is the cropped image of my previous post to show how much detail the Sony A7R III retains the 42.4mp definitely helps.
