Had just sprayed these camelia leaves with some sugar/honey mix when this red admiral butterfly came down to feed on it.
This common butterfly was said to be originally confined to mangrove areas, but has now spread throughout the place.
PS: Seriously, these Darlet, Skipper etc. butterflies are very difficult to identify!

Chasing Butterflies. These guys and gals were hard to take a snap of. They chase each other around like they are mating every second. What a life :)

I was looking through photos from the last year and came across these butterfly(or moths?) shots I took last spring.
This was out at Rowena Plateau on the way up to Tom McCall Point.
Picture taken september 9 in the Netherlands, in a small garden in the center of the city of Amsterdam (Netherlands/Europe).
Unlike most butterflies I've seen, it wasn't skittish at all, sitting still to be photographed from all sides. But it flew there in the afternoon so I guess it isn't (exclusively) a night animal.
Its length is about 5-6 cm from the tip of its nose to the back of its wings.
