I still have a bajawajazillion photos from my New England trip to process and post, but haven't had the time. So, a simple butterfly from recent archives. :)

Taken at Broughtons Wildlife Education Center in Aug 2011.

Hard shoot this one - the butterfly was on a patio table and I was sitting in a sun chair

A tame red admiral butterfly ? Not really- this butterfly landed about 7.5 feet up in a tree- too high for me to reach and I figured if I tried to stand on a chair I would spook it. Only thing for it- I stuck a finger under it's nose and much to my surprise it walked on and stayed there for a while

My poor tree at my terrace was covered with this worms and I really don’t know what to do; kill them will perhaps kill some beautiful butterfly :-(. Just hope that the tree can survive this summer.

By the way, I do have nightmare after taking these shots; macro is not a good idea …

Nikon D7000, Sigma 150/2.8 macro (f/11, 1/200, ISO 100)

The 3D shot are made with free softver "stereo photo maker"

Stare at the pic, slightly de-focus and cross your eyes until a third image appears in the middle and then try to relax your eyes to see a stable 3-D image.

The appearance of the Speckled Wood Butterfly in our area is dark brown with pale yellow or white spots, the colour is a bit dull normally. But this one is shiny and golden when it was under the lovely sunshine. Monkswood, Worc's

This beautiful new jade-coloured Monarch pupa is still soft and wrinkled. Some areas of the adult butterfly-to-be are already apparent. Within the next 1 to 2 hours its casing will harden, smooth out and assume the familiar shape of a mature chrysalis.

A very tiny butterfly, a baby-butterfly I guess, just landed in front of me. He or she waited patiently while I lay down and made pictures of it. Thanks.
