Northern scorpion, Paruroctonus boreus, the only scorpion found in Montana (and found as far north as British Columbia and Alberta). This photo shows the pinchy bits and the bitey bits, but not the sting-y bit. It would probably hurt to be stung, but the venom of this species isn't considered medically significant unless you're allergic. Anyway, they aren't aggressive and just want to live their best life, sleeping all day and hunting bugs at night. Pryor Mountains, Montana.

Sometimes it's a good idea to focus on the little things in life.

I got this shot of a bumblebee tucked into this brilliant purple flower while on a walk through the San Diego Botanic Garden. What I really liked about the scene is how the flower color was reflected on the the bee's wings and body.

Did you know that spider webs can appear colored? Well I didn't until I got this shot. The filaments are actually clear and under certain lighting conditions can refract the light to produce colors. Pretty cool!

I really enjoy photographing cacti. My goal is to try to capture their fascinating combination of beauty and danger. I took this shot while on a walk through the San Diego Botanic Garden.
