Today I received a 1.83 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Mac mini running Leopard. It replaces my PowerBook G4.

I'm not very good at naming my computers

My Shuttle XPC has now been replaced by the beautiful Mac mini!!! Hoooraaay!!! It's ¼ the size of the XPC and it runs a million times quieter.

Boot camp is fantastic. Within 1 hour I was VPN'd into my office computer working from home without a hitch. I can also use CoRD (Cocoa Remote Desktop) and never leave OS X but until Fireworks can dock panels without covering the canvas and go full screen I'll have to stick with XP :(

I already popped open the case and replaced the 512MB of RAM with 2GB. Apple charges $300 for this, I paid $160(with shipping) by doing it myself. Granted, opening the case is a pain but the money saved is well worth it.

Next up, replacing the the Core Duo with a Core 2 Duo Merom :)

I ordered my Mac mini straight after the MWSF 2005 Keynote and took these photos of the unpacking when it arrived a few weeks later.

Kororaa is one of the first distros to come with XGL preinstalled! However, as with Ubuntu, X Windows doesn't load (no support for Intel GMA950 on board graphics card).

Until everything is moved around, I'm having to resort to iPhone photos (all my other photos are stored in a library being moved to a new hard drive).

Here's my new entertainment/media set-up. I don't have cable (cable TV, that is. I have cable for my internet connection). Just lots of movies and the internet!

(I really need to learn how to use a photo-editing app on my iPhone...)

I went shopping tonight. The main event is the Mac Mini, but please mouse over the photo for notes about everything. The Mini is replacing my 2002 G4 Dual 867GHz Mirror Door Drive Mac which is still a tank, but the software I use is noticeably outpacing it.

I had this thought a couple of days ago and decided to put development off until today; I'm trying to pad out my holiday. As you can see, .. it hasn't quite worked. Basically, I want the messages that are flagged in Mail to become unread messages as well or at least just unread. I've tried, but I cannot find the documentation that I would expect that someone would have, and I know that this is a photography site but it's the only place on the internet where I have a large(ish) base of peoples of sorts. If anyone could supply me with the correct variable / a rewrite of my code, that would be most grand.
