A tiny working model power hacksaw I built from Meccano. I deliberately used my scruffiest old parts as the full sized hacksaws are often in this state. Despite the blade being only 2.5" long it actually does saw through wood or metal.

新潟県長岡市における工業は、後に日本石油と合流した宝田石油などが活躍した、明治時代の東山油田の採掘に付随して興ったと指摘されている。
こうした工作機械は各所の工場で使われていたが、現存するものは少ないとのことであった。

A brochure advertising Drummond Bros. Lathes, Rydes, Hill near Guildford, Surrey, England. I believe this must date just after 1900.
Description: Photograph of guests of the Dollinger Steel fiftieth anniversary celebration admiring a beam spacer in a steelyard warehouse. Several beams are laid out on the right. The beam spacer is on the far left and has a track for which beams can travel onto its right. A sign on the machine says "Beam spacer, for duplicate punching of beams up to 24" deep." Each of the people at the center have a name tag that was given to them upon arrival at the celebration. The man and woman at the center each have a copy of "The Dollinger Story." Other various machines and steelyard materials can be seen in the background.

From a photograph album of Alfred Herbert Ltd of Coventry, once one of the UK's premier machine tool manufacturers. Found at the local tip and it cost me a £1. The album of some 50 mostly whole plate prints has been donated to the Herbert Museum & Art Gallery

Tool shop of the Hagley Museum. A water turbine drove all of the big machines in the shop. This is looking up at the pulleys above a lathe. The drive belt comes in from the top left, and the vertical belt comes down to a pulley on the lathe. The drive belt was shifted off of the idler pulley by the stick. All of the big machine tools in this shop were powered in this way in the 19th and early 20th Centuries when they made parts for all the machines required for Hagley Powder Mill.
