Just because I haven't been posting pictures doesn't mean I haven't been busy. I've been busy. Made a bunch of new tools, & laying the ground work for a busy summer.
These are four of the six HT's for frames that are getting tapered forks.
Need to finalize a few drawings and there will be a heap of standard head tubes too. (even two steel ones...eek!)
Just visible is the tool in its holder "set over" to the correct angle for the thread. This workpeice was a purely demonstrative item. The operator kept turning the thread off and cutting a new smaller one. It was probably 1/8th Whitworth by the end of the day

Nameplates from a few more of the machine tools in my shop. I could show you pictures of the entire machine, but that would mean I'd have to clean my shop.
About half the size of a Bridgeport, this little mill comes in handy for small parts and intricate work.
South Bend 10K lathe, mounted on welded steel bench, Sheetmetal surface, MDF board and the lathe feet are bolted to channels welded across the bench. Storage is surplus heavy duty office files/drawers from our local university surplus.

Russ has changed the milling cutter for a drill bit, and is setting up the Z-axis zero. He uses Rizla cigarette papers to indicate when the drill tip is just touching the work, which is the zero datum for the Z axis.

I know people who have spent more money on their televisions than I spent on this mill, but I would rather have this than a television of ANY size or resolution. It came with a Mitutoyo DRO and a set of collets, and a very old power table feed with an electrical problem.
I probably won't bother fixing the old power feed because modern ones are nicer and very affordable. I do need to put the right side crank back on the table in the mean time, however.
I still need a vise ($$) and various measuring devices, set-up tools, and accessories.

A few years back, due to downsizing of the tool & die department where I worked, I had the opportunity to buy a number of machines/ machine tools, that I had been using every day for years. I ended up buying eighteen machines, for pennies on the hundred dollars. Here are nameplates from a few of them.
The Acme Machine Tool Company was located in the same building as Adam Wuest, Inc. Isn't that where Wiley Coyote did his shopping?
Obviously originally driven from an overhead lineshaft by the look of the large cone pulley which has been modified to be driven by an electric motor.
