Quilt Story: As with most people who are blessed with too much creativity (is there such a thing?), and lots of time to play, I have ended up with a variety of homeless projects. It is therefore my privilege to donate several quilts to the breast cancer auction. Most of them are made in bright colours more suitable for children, since those are the colours I like best too. I hope each one brightens the home in which it ends up.
Pattern: Original
Technique: Pieced/Machine

These machines are the bane of my existence (and for every other parent of small children, I suspect). But so far I have not given in to the little man's wheedling. We have enough colorful crap as it is.

Not a computer in sight in this working machine shop in south-western Ontario, Canada. Founded in 1914 and still operating by the same family. Durable "old school" machine tools and the operator's skills. No CNC or 3D printer. Just line shafts and flat belt pulleys. A time capsule of early twentieth century technology.

Frankfurt airport, this machine was pouring green liquid on the wings of the planes. (defrosting them?)
Christian has been hard at work replacing the bottom boards on the machine shed. This photo doesn't look like much but he had to hand-dig down around each support beam and then also dig a trench alongside the building since the backhoe couldn't get close enough. As someone who has zero upper body strength, I can't believe he dug all that out by himself. Tough guy.
Rip the old boards off. Coat the beams in creosote and reinforce or replace them. Put new wood up. Fill in the hole.
'Banks' of vending machines like these are everywhere. Some of them (such as those at train stations) sell beer!
A complete, unrestored, original (except for ball shooter and ball life as seen in photos) Big Bertha pinball machine.

Vollis Simpson’s multi-colored whirligig or wind machine consists of forty separate movable elements—fans, blades, propellers, wheels, and more—enabling it to take flight with even the slightest breeze.
Recycling discarded parts from cars, trucks, bicycles, farm machinery, street lights, and highways signs, Simpson’s whirligigs transform cast-off everyday objects and industrial materials into whimsical, dancing, spinning wind machines whose sole purpose is its fantastic visual impact.
This tea leaf drying machine is 150 years old and came from Belfast. It is still in use at the Happy Valley tea plantation in Darjeeling.
La Machine is a former mining town in the Nièvre département of Burgundy Franche-Comte region, central France. It has a population of 3,397 (2014).
This refurbished miniature steam train currently stands at the entrance to the town in Rue de Decize. Such a train may have been used to carry miners and materials above and/or under ground when the mine was operational.
