I'm a pretty hardcore Lightroom user, but I figured I'd take a crack at processing photos with the latest version of Aperture. I really like the color tones and the amount of fine tune control I get. I'm also really digging the full-screen UI and adjustment HUD. No need to worry about which module I'm in. Tethered shooting is a *huge* plus.
However, overall performance isn't so hot on my 2-year-old MacBook. There's noticeable lag when I get deep into editing. Lightroom is way faster with the same types of processing. Also, in order to use the Dodge and Burn editing tools, Aperture creates a new TIFF or PSD. Lightroom just stacks adjustment brush edits on top of the master file. Considering how much I use adjustment brushes, this might be a deal-breaker.
I'll play around with it some more over the next few days and see how I feel. Right now, I'm kind of split on it.

Muddy Waters said it best:
"I'm ready, ready's anybody can be,
I'm ready, ready's anybody can be,
Now I'm ready for you,
I hope you's ready for me"
And this guy is indeed ready, with 50 or 60 rounds in two magazines taped together. They are only .22s -- but there's a lot of them!
Don't know if this gentleman is a gangster or not but his choice of firepower earns him a place in the "Gangster Archives" set.
In 1947, John Deere opened a new tractor factory in Dubuque, Iowa, built to produce the John Deere M. The M was created to address the increasing demand for small tractors and compete with the increasingly popular Ford and the smaller Farmall tractor models. The M was the first Deere tractor to use a vertical 2-cylinder engine, with a square bore and stroke of 4.0 × 4.0 inches (100.5cuin) with a high row crop.

this series leads up to easter. working a few different options. i'm leaning toward the one on the left with a few tweaks.
we always seem to run pretty dark on easter art, so i'm looking for some ways to lighten it up.
here are our big ideas:
March 22-23: The CROSSroads of sin and forgiveness (the cross)
Why the cross? What is sin? Why do we need forgiveness? Jeff Hutch-idea for drama of soldier at cross.
March 29-30: The CROSSroadd of despair and hope (the tomb)
When they laid Jesus in the tomb, the disciples found themselves at a point of despair-would there be any hope? We often find ourselves in this position in our lives-the circumstances feel dead but perhaps God has other plans!
April 3-4: The CROSSroads of Defeat and Victory (Easter)
The greatest victory of all-the empty tomb-new life and resurrection!
This may have been taken at Wroughton on a trade day for Dennis. That being the case I got to drive a Javelin and a Dennis Rapier fire engine around the airfield. I still recall being frightened witless by their demo driver showing us how well the new fire appliance would handle !!
I first thought this was a Gray Hairstreak but thanks for the help from Merideth and Keagles it is now correctly identified as a White M Hairstreak.

Simple graphic. I thought about this while eating trail mix tonight.
I was very excited to see that the Benjamin Button movie poster that I submitted to the Minimal Movie Poster blog was featured today. I love that blog and feel great that they liked my work. You can see it here: Benjamin Button movie poster on Minimal Movie Posters.

Leica "M," Summicron 50mm
It's been nearly two months and my M is rarely out of my hands. An extraordinary experience and camera.
They will pry a Leica out of my cold, dead hands.
and with a new camera. Still learning of course so bare with me. It is the Canon Rebel XSi and I'm thrilled to pieces. This was taken with my dad's macro lens, but I got one too and just haven't started playing with it yet. I will catch up as quickly as I can with your beautiful photos. I have started back to work today so I'll probably start checking back with you all later today! Take care and I missed you all!
