The Narrows, Zion National Park, Utah. 31-5-1996.

The Narrows lies at the northern end of the Zion Canyon in Utah. The walls become quite close at certain points and one gets the feeling of a slot canyon. However, the color here is different than the sandstone we are used to seeing in the slots, and then there is the constant flow of the Virgin River. I hiked upstream for about 10 km before making this image. Wading the water in sandals was not always easy because one has to step on rocks and pebbles most of the time. The diagonal flow of the river leads the eye to the diffused light, which is reminiscent of what one hopes to see at the end of a dark tunnel. I bracketed just in case, and all exposures turned out fine. That big chunk of rock represents one of the dangers of being in a canyon, albeit one with an arbitrarily low probability of occurrence.

The main body of the church dates from the 1400s, and the tower was added in the following century.

The church was badly damaged in the Great Thunderstorm of 1638, apparently struck by ball lightning during a severe thunderstorm. An afternoon service was taking place at the time, and the building was packed with approximately 300 worshippers. Four of them were killed, and around 60 injured. According to local legend, the Great Thunderstorm was caused by the village being visited by the Devil. Two large boards at the west end of the church tell the story.

Well known from the traditional folk song about Uncle Tom Cobleigh going to Widecombe Fair, Widecombe-in-the-Moor lies on the south side of Dartmoor. The fair itself is still held every September.

Simon Jenkins considers this to be one of England's thousand best churches. It is a Grade I-listed building.

Oia is a scenic village on the north west edge of the Santorini island within the Cyclades. It extends for almost 2 km (1.2 miles) along the northern edge of the caldera that forms the island of Santorini, at a height of between 70 and 100 m (230 and 330 feet) above sea level. Immediately to the east is Phinikia), and about 500 m (550 yards) to the north is Tholos Amoudi Bay lies below the town. The small fishing village of Ormos Armen lies below Oia to the south and is reached via steps. There is a ferry connection to Therasia from the harbour village of Ormos Ammoudi (Όρμος Αμμουδιού; also spelled Amoudi) to the west. There are 300 steps down to the port from Oia. Summer's gone winter's in your eyes

I can feel the thunder storms inside

I wake every morning and the cold winds cover me

All I've got's a ghost of what could be

If you can see the lights shine in front of me

If you can see the lights shout out where you'll be

I'm in a broken dream I stare out into space

You know I called you up cos nothing takes your place

I've got a heart of stone and it's sinking deep inside

I want to tell you love I'm too proud to cry

If you can see the lights shine in front of me

If you can see the lights shout out where you'll be

Summer's gone and I can't tell you lies

Oh forgive me love I'm too proud to cry

If you can see the lights shine in front of me

If you can see the lights shout out where you'll be

Summer's gone and I can't tell you lies

Forgive me love I'm too proud to cry

Too proud to cry

Too proud to cry

Too proud to cry

“If a problem can't be solved within the frame it was conceived, the solution lies in reframing the problem.”

Been very absent on social media lately, just been living the most I can in life. This includes meeting someone, work, college and loads of other projects I am currently working on which hopefully you can see very soon! I am very happy.

Don't keep life in the confines of frame, theres a whole world outside what you know. Embrace the unknown and discover a life worth living.

I wanted to do a series of shots with my Mary Jane Watson inspired outfit, and loved this color scheme!

Mist, having already ascended a mountain called Haystacks that morning, wasn't all that keen on 'extra's' that involved getting back in the car only to be driven somewhere else for another walk .. hence at every opportunity she was hedging her bets and doing her 'expression of exasperation' which involved moping along 20m behind me and lying down at every opportunity indicating that '.... I'm alright now .. I've had my walkies for the day so in Mist's world we can go home now!' ?! As soon as I turned for home she was as happy as Larry and at least 50m in front gambling and playing around .. little madame!

My praying mantis babies continue to grow- some are completely green now and as big as 2 knuckles. I go look for them every day and there are still at least 5 or 6 around.

Surprisingly Winter is a particularly good time to visit the Chicago Botanic Garden. True, all of the plants and flowers are pruned back or lying dormant under a frosty blanket of snow. But a snowfall transforms the landscape into a true Winter wonderland. I enjoy exploring the garden in Winter, looking for the patterns and smooth simplicity that only a Winter snow can create. On this expedition I visited one of my favorite spots, a vantage point across the lake form an unreachable island, which is part of the Japanese garden. The quiet solitude, the pristine snow and the order of the distant island create a sense of serenity and peace. As I was soaking in the scene before me a large flock of geese swept across the sky in a giant formation. I quickly grabbed my camera and lifted it to my eye just as the formation sailed over the island. A click of the shutter and then they were gone and the silent stillness returned.
