This is one of the largest Goldenrod Crab Spiders I've seen so far here in Alaska. It blended in perfectly with this yellow flower as it waits for a meal to land.

Tot voor kort was het in Lier een komen en gaan van 21'ers en 27'ers. Het grootste aandeel reed op de IC relaties tussen Turnhout-Binche en Antwerpen-Hamont, maar bij de introductie van de rechtstreekse IC Antwerpen-Hasselt werd ook hier een omloop voorzien van een 27 met M4 rijtuigen. Ik kon zo'n rit vastleggen in het voorjaar van 2022, waarbij de 2708 na een korte stop in Lier de reis weer verder zet richting Antwerpen.

Located on the Nete river, Lier was settled in the 8th century and developed around the chapel of St. Peter. Lier became an important textile centre in the 14th century. It was besieged and taken by the Spanish in 1582, by the Dutch in 1595, and by the English in 1706 during the War of the Spanish Succession.
Lier is a French commune that was granted city rites in 1212. It is located in the Flanders region of Northern Belgium. Located on the Nete river, Lier was settled in the 8th century and developed around the chapel of St. Peter. Lier became an important textile centre in the 14th century. It was besieged and taken by the Spanish in 1582, by the Dutch in 1595, and by the English in 1706 during the War of the Spanish Succession. Belgian nationalists resisted a Dutch attack in 1830. Belgium has seen its fair share of war and occupation.
Destruction of Lier occurred as a result of bombing in Antwerp in 1914; however, many of the medieval structures survived including, the Gothic belfry, St. Gommarus’ Church and the béguinage.

Notre promenade a eu lieu après plus ou moins trois semaines de sécheresse, cela se voit sur le déficit d'eau du cours d'eau et les teintes de la végétation.
Au printemps, la jonquille sauvage jaune plonge les vallées des ruisseaux de la réserve naturelle dans une mer de fleurs et impressionne toujours de nombreux visiteurs d'ici et d'ailleurs.
La plupart des gens connaissent cette fleur sous la forme de la jonquille du jardin ou encore de la fleur coupée du commerce. Mais personne ne peut s'imaginer ce que c'est que de voir la jonquille sauvage enchanter les vallées des ruisseaux avec sa fleur jaune. En effet, en tant que plante sauvage, la jonquille est fortement menacée dans ses populations et donc strictement protégée. Dans les vallées des ruisseaux de la réserve naturelle de la Holzwarche, entre les localités de Rocherath et de Mürringen, se trouve l'un des derniers refuges les plus importants de la jonquille jaune sauvage, où elle offre chaque année en avril un spectacle naturel particulier.

In spring, the yellow wild daffodil bathes the stream valleys of the nature reserve in a sea of flowers and always impresses many visitors from near and far.
Most people know this flower as the garden daffodil or as a commercial cut flower. But no one can imagine what it's like to see the wild daffodil enchanting the stream valleys with its yellow blossom. Indeed, as a wild plant, the daffodil's populations are highly endangered and therefore strictly protected. In the stream valleys of the Holzwarche Nature Reserve, between the towns of Rocherath and Mürringen, lies one of the last most important refuges of the wild yellow daffodil, where it offers a unique natural spectacle every April.

Basilica Cistern
Istanbul, Turkey
The Basilica Cistern is the largest of several hundred ancient cisterns that lie beneath the city of Istanbul (formerly Constantinople), Turkey. The cistern, located 500 feet (150 m) southwest of the Hagia Sophia on the historical peninsula of Sarayburnu, was built in the 6th century during the reign of Byzantine Emperor Justinian I.
The enlarged cistern provided a water filtration system for the Great Palace of Constantinople and other buildings on the First Hill, and continued to provide water to the Topkapi Palace after the Ottoman conquest in 1453 and into modern times.
