Wolfenbüttel ist eine Fachwerkstadt. Mehr als 80% des Gebäudebestands des 18. Jahrhunderts haben die Zeit und die Kriege überstanden und der überwiegende Teil der mehr als 1.000 Gebäude wurde in den letzten 50 Jahren liebevoll bewahrt und restauriert. Im Fachwerk zu wohnen ist etwas besonderes und die schönsten Ecken gehören mit zu den beliebtesten Wohngebieten der Stadt.
Wolfenbüttel is a half-timbered town. More than 80% of the 18th century buildings have survived time and wars and the majority of the more than 1,000 buildings have been lovingly preserved and restored over the last 50 years. Living in a half-timbered building is something special and the most beautiful corners are among the most popular residential areas in the city.

At an altitude of 1095 metres, the Eira do Serrado viewpoint offers an unobstructed view of the parish of Curral das Freiras, surrounded by the grandeur of Madeira's characteristic green mountains.
Note the "old road" (bottom left) clinging to the side of the mountain.
Located in the mountainous interior of the municipality of Câmara de Lobos, this observatory is at the 'heart' of the island.

In der Schlacht bei Lutter am Barenberge, etwa 10 Kilometer südwestlich des heutigen Salzgitter, besiegten am 17. Augustjul. / 27. August 1626greg. die Truppen des Kaisers und der Katholischen Liga unter Johann t’Serclaes von Tilly das Heer des Niedersächsischen Kreises und Dänemarks unter König Christian IV. In der Folge kam es 1629 zum Separatfrieden von Lübeck, der den dänisch-niedersächsischen Teilkonflikt des Dreißigjährigen Krieges beendete.
Mit rund 40.000 Kämpfern und 4.000 bis 8.000 Toten war die Schlacht bei Lutter, neben der von Sievershausen im Jahr 1553, eine der blutigsten kriegerischen Auseinandersetzungen auf dem Gebiet des heutigen Niedersachsen.

The decorative features on the exterior and interior are endless and the detail remarkable.
Marine Building was completed at a final cost of $2.3 million dollars, $1.1 million dollars over budget or close to double the original estimate. In 2023 the building was assessed at $153 million.
Rather than go into bankruptcy the developers were forced to sell their investment and received only $900,000, with the sale taking place in 1933 to the Britsih Pacific Building Co. (part of the Guinness Brewing Company).
The Marine Building is equal to any Art Deco Masterpiece in North America and deserves its designation as a Heritage Building in Vancouver.
