Using the return segment of my last Romania trip, I will be flying Lufthansa Business Class to Baku. First, I will be flying from JFK to Frankfurt. This is the first time I am using the LH Senator lounge in JFK. It’s a much bigger lounge compare to Newark. It even features the First Class dining on the 3/F. Overall, this is probably the best Business Class lounge in US. My flight to Frankfurt is operated by a A380. I have been doing quite a bit of research regarding the LH Business Class. Although they are all fully lie-flat seats these days, the main difference is how the seat angle to each other and the “foot-rest issue”. For some of the LH Business Class seats, you will be sharing the foot-rest with your neighbor which I am trying to avoid. Out of all the configurations, I believe the window seats (e.g. 10A) in the upper deck of A380 are probably the best. The quality of food and drink is pretty impressive. I choose the Grill Beef Filet and Lamp Chop for the main. I was particularly impressed with the Chocolate Cake dessert (so tired of the UA Strawberry Sundae!). After arriving in Frankfurt, I do have a pretty long layover (7+ hrs) before the next flight to Baku. My original plan was getting a day-use room in Sheraton but they were completely sold out. I ended up going to the Lufthansa Arrival Lounge. They have a nice shower and spa facility.

On Wednesday, Nov. 11, 2009, JetBlue and Lufthansa celebrated the first day of their airlines’ codeshare operation. Customers and Crewmembers were treated to international food and music, highlighting the global nature of the event. JetBlue CEO Dave Barger and Lufthansa CEO Christoph Franz took the stage with Crewmembers from both airlines to mark the milestone day, thanking everyone involved for making the codeshare happen.
