This photo marks the occasion of Lufthansa's last decent into PDX. Lufthansa has sadly cancelled the Portland-Frankfurt direct flight. I was lucky enough to fly Lufthansa Portland-Frankfurt the last five times I've gone to Europe. It truly was a highlight of the trips.
When it took off a couple of hours later, instead of turning north (the flight goes over Northern Canada), it turned south, did a low altitude lap over Portland, flew directly over PDX Airport while banking hard to the left and then went onto the north. I'm guessing this was a Last Goodbye. From where I was watching (Portland International Raceway), I could see the whole loop, it was pretty cool. (A screen grab of the Flightaware for the flight is below)
