Magnets will be embedded in the chest and the abdomen. The image shows the torso of Savage which when completed will show off Savage's wicked tattoos!!!
Completed Jedi Master Luke Skywalker as seen in issue #3 of Star Wars Invasion by Dark Horse Comics. Luke is in command of Republic forces sent to the planet Rychel in order to repel the invading forces of the Yuuzhan Vong.
The figure was mostly sculpted in Aves Epoxy FIXIT sculpt using a plastic articulated armature. The forearms and hands have been recasted from original parts. The head originalted from a Legacy Snowspeeder Luke figure, casted in wax and completly retooled and refined adding additional markings to the face, age lines, a lower brow, hair and ears...I also strengthened the jaw. The figure measures 3.75" in height. Painted using Floyquil Acrylics by testors.
The Letterman Digital Arts Center (LDAC), located in the Presidio, has been the combined home of Industrial Light & Magic, LucasArts, and Lucasfilm Limited since June 25, 2005. The $350-million, 850,000-square-foot center sits on a 23-acre lot and is home to 1500 employees. The grounds were designed by landscape architect Lawrence Halprin, who also restored San Francisco's Ghirardelli Square. Well, I’ve had just over a day to process the news: Disney has bought Lucasfilm and its associated sub strands of Industrial Light & Magic, Lucasarts, Skywalker Sound etc. This also means that a third Star Wars Trilogy, Episodes VII, VIII and IX will be released, with the first instalment coming Summer 2015. I think it’s fair to say that I have never been so shocked in my whole life! A lot of people have become angry or disdainful about this prospect but I, for one, am hopeful and extremely excited to say the least:
Many people have complained that George Lucas’ directorial role in the prequels contributed them to being ‘less than exceptional’ (although I enjoyed them immensely). Now, Lucas will remain merely in the role of ‘creative consultant’, without a great deal of input. Kathleen Kennedy, the recently elected new head of Lucasfilm will also executive produce, as she has done with the entire Indiana Jones series. Lucas not owning the franchise anymore may also mean the possibility of Disney releasing the original, unedited theatrical editions of the Original Trilogy on blu-ray, something fans have wanted for years.
Some have responded sceptically to the franchise being handed over to Disney, but, they seem to be forgetting that Disney also bought Marvel Studios back in 2009, and since then we have had Thor, Iron Man 2, Captain America and Avengers Assemble, all of which have had little to no visible Disney influence (ie no ‘Castle Logo’ in the beginning of the movies or in the closing credits).
My sole reservation about this new trilogy is purely a personal one: since the age of 9 I’ve had in my head an idea of what Episode VII would be like and wrote short stories and ideas in my old school exercise books, and feel only the slightest bit sad that all that imagination will be re-written. But hey, maybe I’m just being selfish, and believe me I am thrilled that a director, cast and crew with genuine talent will be given the task of continuing the Star Wars saga.
In conclusion, I am very happy that George Lucas has passed the franchise down to what he calls ‘the next generation of film-makers’ and is taking a well-earned (and well needed) retirement. I am extremely excited to see the continuing adventures of the characters I loved as a child and return to that galaxy far, far away. Rest assured, I will be first in line on opening night for Star Wars Episode VII.

Big, heavy and well worn, Zayne's suit has been sculpted and painted to appears to be a mix of woven material, leather and a lightweight metal alloy which includes a working removable helmet and PlSS (Primary Life-Support Subsystem) backpack.

Thought I'd put this up for general reference. The Starbuck's employees weren't even sure where the Yoda fountain was - they just pointed us in the general direction. (It's in a small courtyard in front of Building B off of Letterman Drive.)

My 1:18 scale, 4.5" tall Furlag sculpt is complete. The head is a completly original sculpt. The figures body is also original and is sculpted over a custom created, articluated frame. I used Aves FIXIT for the sculpt and casted the head in plastic. Furlag has 14 points of articulation. Hand painted using Testors Polyscale (Floquil) acrylic paints. A very unique species in the Star Wars universe...
From Wookipedia - "Furlag was a small-time bounty hunter with large, batlike ears. Operating during the height of the Galactic Empire, he was not well-known, but often worked with other prominent bounty hunters, such as Zuckuss and 4-LOM. He, Zuckuss, and 4-LOM were subcontracted by fellow hunter Skorr on Ord Mantell during the early Galactic Civil War in the hunt for a group of prospective Rebels, then again later with 4-LOM and Zuckuss as well as several other bounty hunters including the Trandoshan Bossk to attempt to pry Han Solo's carbonite-encased body from Boba Fett."
Unfortunately Furlag underestimated Boba Fett and met his end being sucked through and open airlock shaft into deep space.
Much more detail to the head this week - also worked on the upper arms. I feel the detail is going to be enormous with this figure once completed...and with a full range of articulation? Awesome! I'm looking forward to beginning the chest cavity.
However, many revisions need to take place before I am satisfied but I feel I am heading in the right direction. All Hail FIXIT SCULPT! I couldn't do this type of detail at this scale without it!
I hope these early images show you how much effort goes into creating these figures - probably the most difficult part of building one of these is the early stages, creating a working armature that will allow the articulation I want as well as support the sculpt work I intend to apply.

You can see just how thin the layers of FIXIT have to be to make the alternate body armor. As thin as it is, still very strong. May attempt to cast in plastic.

Today was another rough Friday. I had to say goodbye to many friends from ILM, and LucasArts that were kind enough to visit a makshift studio for a quick portrait before they left the building. I can't thank you all enough for being so patient, and for allowing me to capture your portraits today. It was so great getting to know the LucasArts family that I've never met before, and see some ILM faces that I've not seen in years. For those of you that are leaving, you will be missed, and I hope to some day work along side you again!
This will be the growing collection of portraits from both LucasArts, and ILM, and all of the amazingly talented people that were under the roof of LDAC.

The beginnings of the Meditiation Chamber from The Empire Strikes Back...the chair appears to be a bit too big...will reduce before adding detail. The sculpt of the seat will be worked to allow the figure to "connect" to the chair so to speak..and not roll around.
My first diorama (or playset I like to call it )- The Legacy Sith Temple - Inspired by the Dark Horse comic series Star Wars Legacy. It's under construction and when finished will be multiple levels of Sith architecture with power doors and various ancient Sith columns/sculpture.

Completed both sets of shoulder armor. These pieces are attached to the arms by clear bands glued to the underside of the armor, that wrap around and under the shoulder ball joints. This allows the arms free range of movement without the shoulder armor falling off.

Finally purchased the Clone Wars Embo the other day and took a shot of the figure alongside my WIP sculpt...Hasbro did an excellent job with this figure!!!
Mine of course is a "Real World" version of the bounty hunter so many of the physical differences is purley in the translation from animated to "life-like".
I'm working on the lower legs and will begin adding additional detail to the figure soon - thanks to Hasbro for the bowcaster and daggers! Saves me the trouble of making ones myself! Not to say they won't receive a light wash of paint before I'm done :)
Our favourite characters from the old but brilliant adventure game Day of the Tentacle.
Each folded from a square.
CPs can be found on the Origami Austria Homepage.
Two sets of magnets (two in the chest and two in the armor) help attach the upper chest armor to Savage.
Behold the beginnings of the body armor! This was originally a thin sheet of FIXIT while close to curing, was draped over the chest of Savage to capture the contours of the underlining sculpt. Once cured, I used a dremel to cut and sand the piece to shape. After the armor was "forged" if you will, I began to work out details.
The body armor seen here is complete! I have sculpted detail to the shoulder straps and added the chest strap . The completed shoulder armor and guard are connected by a clear band, then strapped to the under arm using a second clear band. This now gives the figure the same wide range of articulation as before.
Work in Progress on the body of Starkiller in his Arena Combat Gear - the costume mostly associated with this character in The Force Unleashed 2. Working is the upper body, abdomen, shoulders, arms and body armor.
From the Dark Horse comic series Knights of the Old Republic, written by John Jackson Miller, comes my completed Zayne Carrick as he appeared in part four of Commencement.
